Anyone have PayPal in there app?

I added a PayPal button in my app and it will load PayPal o a custom HTML and URL screen, but after all the card info is entered and you click PayNow it times out. I found a digital goods company that will auto email any file to someone after they pay for it. Now it won't be part of the app but it will open in a browser and that is what I am trying to accomplish. Anyway has anyone done this yet and how did you do it to make it work. What I have been told is because I am using an iOS device the safari browser blocks the purchase via the browser. Any thoughts on this? Tony

Apple will reject your app unless you ONLY use in App purchase to distribute goods. Sorry bud.

Apple will indeed refuse your app if it has Paypal. But...... What if you were to add in on the fly after the app had been approved? Worth the risk? I can't say.

Well this is a topic that concerns me as well. Anybody knows if/when Apple is checking the apps to see if there are any modifications that would have not been approved at the time of submission?

Would be easy to accomplish, but what happens when you need to update the app with a new binary. Get app approved Add new PayPal feature Need to update Remove PayPal feature Submit new binary Get approval Re-add PayPal feature. Seem like a problem even if Apple doesn't find out. Most likely Apple will never know unless you app does very well, and gets a review pointing out the feature. That's how Apple usually finds out. Several tether apps have been removed because someone wrote a nice "cool feature" review. Fred

Ask yourself the question though, is it worth possibly losing your Dev account? You would be breaking their TOS after all and doing some jiggery pokery to circumnavigate their rules. I wouldn't do it.

I've read that apple will reject it, but only if what your buying is something related to the app. Something that should or could be considered in-app purchase. If you're selling a physical good, it shouldn't be a problem... Thats what I've read, I have had no experience with this. Cheers

@MadRod yes that is correct. Things that would add additional functionality to the application should always be an in App Purchase. If your selling shirts or something related to a physical world item, you need to use something like paypal.

Then why don't they make it easy to do? See I am selling access to a web page that has a feature I can't add to my app? Thoughts

@MAGIC_MAN We'll you'd need to use iAP for that. Do you mean why don't they make it easy to integrate iAP?

Yes. You have a quick steps guide for a BT app? What always gets me is where dies the code go in our BT apps. Everytime I find something I want to put in app ex) scringo, parse, etc the code for examples is never where it has to go for our apps and I find myself crying more than producing.

@MAGIC_MAN Haha yeah maybe I'll do a iAP tutorial. I have no clue how to integrate iAP myself though. So that'll be fun to learn :D

Here's some info that may help: I have a PayPal "Donate" link into an app that was approved by Apple. It was initially rejected because the click opened the PayPal page in my app via a webview page. I had to change it so it opened the link in Mobile Safari outside of the app. That's the Apple rule. I also had to submit a new binary with this as the default behavior of the link as Apple would only test it with the default deployment data. They didn't care that I had changed the behavior via the Buzztouch control panel and that the data would refresh. I'd be nervous changing behavior after an app is approved, especially if the app is for a client. The potential embarrassment of getting an app pulled for something like this is not worth it for me. -William
