Menu Button Icons- showing up in the emulator but not on test android phone

Hello everyone, 3 out of the 5 images for my icons on my menu button screen are not showing up on my android phone which I test the app with. All that is showing up is grey boxes. But they are showing up properly with the emulator. I have the icon size 50 x 50 pixels png and jpg file. I have tried multiple things: - copying and pasting the file in the Res/drawable folder - deleting the project in eclipse, and importing a fresh downloaded file from BT - Tried it with Png and Jpg - Deleting the files and re-uploading them in BT I don't think I did anything different with the other icons/images that are working!? Any suggestions would be appreciated, Thank you in advance.

I Fred, thanks for the quick replies! I had already tried to add the images to the Large device and still not luck. I tried deleting the project and reimporting to see if that worked, like it does for somethings but I guess not BT. I deleted the "files" form the BT image file folder and re-uploaded them, again not successful. I do get an error on the bottom of the page when I open the screen to select the images for that Icon. It says "Oops, an error occurred trying to access a resource." I will try to update the config file, or see actually how to do that. Thanks again for the responses.

Open the Config file in the Control Panel Copy file Open BT_config.txt file in Source Code and replace. Save file and re-export the binary (.apk)

Thanks Fred, that worked perfectly. Is this a common thing that I would have to do in the future. Will this be a problem once I have the app out to the public? Thanks

The app shouldn't require a new binary when you make changes in the Config file, suspect you had user error. Whenever you publish a new binary it'll clear up the issue, but the Online Config should download and be cached. Fred

Ok Fred, I just tried to install another Icon button and got the grey box again. Do I need to do the above process every time I do this? Or is there a better way to get it done. thanks

Did you refresh the app. From the home screen of the app hit the device menu button. Fred

P.s. The image size for this icon is 43 x 43, would that matter?

If you're embedding the image (using image name and not a URL) you must recompile the app. Fred

Oh really, Ok. so would it be better to use an URL, and if so, just put it on the top left hand corner of a webpage and point to that page? I know you mentioned something about this prior, but if I want to use image name rather than url, and the app is already to the public, the public would not be able to see the updated new Icons/images unless they uninstall and re-stall the new compiled app? Do I have that correct? thanks again and I will look at your article that you mentioned above. Howard

Okay, played around with it. Used the url, and it worked. I think I like that method better. Thank so much. Howard

Users doesn't have to uninstall. You publish new binary and it will / can overwrite/update the old binary. You've done this, you thought you were just you just updating. Fred
