How do I add RSS plugin to my app? [Just Getting Started]

Hello everyone, I am trying to create a small/simple app that will show the rss feed for my podcast, Frag Tag Radio - it is a video game podcast. http://fragtagradio.com/episodes/rss.xml I want the theme of the app to be all black background(s) with white text/links and at the top of the app I would like to include the logo of my podcast. http://fragtagradio.com/images/frag-tag-radio-logo.jpg I have designed my own website, but I am just getting started here and this is my first attempt at creating a mobile app of any kind. I have read the help file on BuzzTouch that describes the RSS plugin, although I am failing to find how/where to install the RSS plugin to my app. http://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/screen_rss.php If anyone could direct me to where I need to go/what I need to do to install the plugin - it would be very much appreciated. Also, if anyone would be willing to post a sample code or a base if you will of something I can use/build on to make the development process of this app easier - it would also be greatly appreciated. Finally, If there are any additional sources of information that anyone could point me to that would also help ease the development process of my first app - that would be awesome too. Thanks in advance for any help you can give! - Pradius [email protected] http://fragtagradio.com/

That sounds like a pretty much default design setup for a version 1.4 app, by default you'll get a black background, white writing and a header image and just use the RSS screen for the podcast rss. Set it up - couldn't be simpler - and you'll have an app out in an hour!

Thanks! That's awesome, 1.4 definitely seems easier to use than 2.0 - but, is there any way I can change the font styles, colors & sizes in 1.4? The home screen menu has a black background, but the menu list has white backgrounds behind each menu option.. is there a way to chance that to black like the background?

It's easier to use, but flexibility gets sacrificed. To make those mods you'd need to edit in xcode for iOS or eclipse for Android. stackoverflow.com will probably tell you all you'll need to know. Haven't used 1.4 for a while, can't remember much! The Forum double posts when you refresh or reload the browser. Navigate out of the thread then back in and it'll be fine.

I have downloaded and installed the Android SDK Manager. How do I use the Emulator to test my app & how do I make the app into an APK file so that I can install it on my phone?

Very informative, thank you. Ok, so next I have decided host my own BuzzTouch server on my website and I have two questions... 1. Where can I download plugins to install to my BuzzTouch server? 2. Is there any way I can generate the source code for my app/download apps I have created on MY server without paying $30 a month? Cause that just seems pretty ridiculous. I am only trying to make one small app that I will be giving away for free to help promote my podcast... hardly worth $30 a month.

Ok, I found this link on BuzzTouch with plugins you can download for self hosted servers... but I do not see a plugin for adding an RSS feed to my app. My podcast pretty much revolves around the RSS feed, because I update it every week with a new episode. Is there anywhere I can get an RSS Feed plugin for self hosted servers?

I chose to self host so that my app could get viewed more than 3,000 times as I plan to hopefully offer my podcast app for free on Google Play/iTunes and I don't want to have an app on any market that suddenly becomes unavailable each month because I was using a free account here. Pretty much that thread says deal with it or pay $30 a month and I can't afford to self-fund a single app on a monthly basis that I plan to offer for free. So, does that mean that I am pretty much just S.O.L. unless I pay money? Is there no alternative way to get the source from a self hosted project? What is the point in allowing self host for free if you have to pay to use it anyway. Pretty much anything I do on there is pointless without an "API key"? I'm not trying to sound like a jackass, but I don't make alot of extra money and I'm just trying to make a simple app - not a career change. Also, do you know anywhere I can download more plugins for buzztouch beyond the ones that are available @ http://www.buzztouch.com/account/plugins.php ?? Maybe you know of another site or source that builds/offers additional plugins for buzztouch? I really need to get my grubby hands on an RSS Feed plugin for buzztouch 2.0.
