INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY

I just started using Buzztouch recently, and downloaded the source code to my first app. I put in inside eclipse and tried to run it on an emulator, but it gives me this error: [2012-07-26 21:36:20 - com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root] Uploading com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root.apk onto device 'emulator-5554' [2012-07-26 21:36:22 - com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root] Installing com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root.apk... Hi @Yizbenlazzer, Welcome to buzztouch! I think this may be due to the way you added the project to Eclipse, or perhaps something to do with the maps feature of buzztouch. Either way, it should be easy to fix. From the looks of it, when you brought your project into Eclipse, you probably did a File...New Android Project or perhaps a File...New...Existing Project. I tend to use the Import...Existing Project, and that works really well. Here is a link to a doc that shows how to do Android development with buzztouch. It's step-by-step, illustrated, and includes how to import your source file, and how to make sure you have the correct API selected. http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf Give it a read. If it doesn't fix you up, let us know, and we'll figure out the next steps! Mark

Thanks GoNorthWest, I tried what you said, and it is giving me a different error: [2012-07-28 10:29:20 - com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root] ActivityManager: Error type 3 [2012-07-28 10:29:20 - com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root] ActivityManager: Error: Activity class {com.PittsburghSportsNews/com.PittsburghSportsNews.BT_activity_root} does not exist. I am so confused...Could you help me out? Should I try redownloading the source code? Thanks

I messed around with it a bit more, and it gave me the original error again. What should I do?

Looks like maybe you're not configured with the Google APIs vs. Android APIs? Can you check that out? Also...try an Import...Existing Project instead of any other method. That seems to work better for me. Don't do an Existing Android Project - just Existing Project. Mark

Alright, thanks Mark. I have Android API 4.1 installed, but under it there is something called Google API? I'm confused about Google and Android API's, which should I have installed?

Yep, Fred has it right. You can use any Google API as long as its greater than API 6. Mark

I finally figured out the problem, and it was the API's. I was running on an Android API AVD and I switched to a Google one and it worked. Thanks everyone for your help. One final question: If it will only work on Google API "compatible" emulators, will it work on a real HTC phone?

As long as you compile your app using a Google API, it'll run on just about any device. Mark
