Are you in Australia? BT looking for some feedback...

Hi in Australia - half way around the world, awesome! There have been lots and LOTS of new registered users recently that have entered Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and a few other places in Australia as their location. We are very happy about this and wish we knew why the sudden increase from that part of the world - we don't and are looking to you for help. Q1: How did you hear about buzztouch in Australia? Q2: Can you think of any recent changes in the mobile world (in Australia) that would cause this? Q3: Can you remember any recent news or press about buzztouch.com? Web? Print? TV? We can't find anything out of the ordinary online, all seems normal. LOL. Any info is appreciated. Please comment as appropriate. Cheers to you down-under.

Hi David, I've been here for a while on BT :) I haven't noticed any big 'news media' mentions of buzztouch lately. Although 60 minutes had a segment on app making a couple of weeks ago ... perhaps thats why people are searching out solutions? Just a thought ... Bugger, that means they'll find out how good it is! Competition is good :) cheers

Yup, I know... Firstly, I found out about Buzz aggesss ago, so not really relevant to the first question. There's been a huge buzz (geddit?) in the media about building apps without programming. There were a few special TV shows (on trashy prime-time networks) about building apps, and getting your magic idea made. Probably inspired a lot of Google searches, even though they didn't directly mention BT. There have also been a LOAD of deal sites (like Scoopon, Groupon) offering "DIY iPhone Development" courses that use BuzzTouch. If I can think of anything else I'll send an email your way, Dave, and happy to be your eyes on the media down under. EDIT: Considering the huge amount of new users, I might consider running a few online tutorials about BT basics on a weekend here in Oz if any new users are interested. Might help you all get settled in? EDIT2: Yep, 60 minutes, that's the trash I was trying to remember the name of :S They were talking about outsourcing to India, but definitely would've generated some Google searches. I think there were a few other mentions, too.

@javooooo: "There have also been a LOAD of deal sites (like Scoopon, Groupon) offering "DIY iPhone Development" courses that use BuzzTouch. " If you could provide any details about this it would be very helpful. The "courses that use buzztouch" is especially interesting ;-)

@Dave, sure thing. I'll find some links. I doubt they are JUST Aussie though. I think it was this one http://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/15030/learn-how-to-create-awesome-iphone-ipad-android-apps-with-an-online-developer-course If you look at their site it mentions BT. Could be wrong though, but one of them did mention BT. //J

Hi David, I'm from Queensland, Australia and joined a couple of weeks ago. I have been working in an analyst role in IT for several years but came from a business background, so my programming skills are limited. I was asked by a friend if I knew someone who could develop a location based app for them, spec was simple so I decided to give it a go. I found Buzztouch because it was mentioned in the comments section of a 'mobile development for beginners' style blog I was reading so I thought I'd check it out. I put together a quick android app to see how everything worked and was thrilled with the result I was able to produce in such a short timeframe (2 evenings), so I sent the apk file over to one of my developer friends in Sydney to have a look. He was impressed and I believe he joined too - so that accounts for 2 of us new Aussies!

@ICT - might not have been pinched, but could still account for a signup increase. I wouldn't know if they are pinched though, never bought a pack. @Shaz - I think that's how we all fell in love with BT.

Hi @javooooo (I got the correct number of o's yeah? :) Yes it may be one of the reasons for the increase. I don't know if they use BT videos (they're free on youtube right?), and I'm not sure of the licensing - creative commons, public domain etc. I just thought if they were using BT materials it would be nice to 'ask' (esp since they are charging $$$) and that David may be aware of it. We all want to grow BT but I don't want people taking advantage of the good nature of the team here. Just my two cents :)

Looking at my Buzzcast stats, I now realize that Australia is ranked third in total downloads of my podcast (behind US and UK). I suppose from a language perspective it makes sense, but I thought it was worth noting.

hi again - my circumstances were not at all media related - although AFTER I started doing the BTthing there was an article on 60 minutes about making apps. I came across BT by researching on the web - I was asked to look into making one by a client - and after putting some feelers out on LinkedIn and asking some IT pros, I was basically told it would cost me between 10k and 100k - which was WAAAAAAYYYYYY out of our budget - and they told me I in NO WAY could do it myself. That right there, is a red flag to this bull so I decided that I would make my own... BT came across as a great balance between technical and practical for me - I need to know WHY something is happening, and BT provided enough technical information to help me understand without speaking a language that made me feel stupid while I was trying to learn it. So I went with BT - so far, I am happy with what I have accomplished here. So short answer, it was a happy accident to find BT, no one directed me here - just my google search of "make and iphone app" I am struggling with a few things, but determined to work them out.

Found Buzz some time ago when looking to build apps for my sites There has been a number of webinars and launches of app building and make money from apps through popular affiliate marketers lately, of which a lot of Aussies follow, Affilorama was one and is big here and NZ , Appempire and skybuilder lately,(IM rubbish) Something I have noticed here that is very recent, advertising on radio and tv for companies to download their apps, and local councils and colleges are offering app programs for business( still the conventional coding though)

Hi gang and thanks for the great info. It looks as though there isn't any one single reason for the recent increase in Australia / NZ visitors. Sounds like some good Googling is leading you our way after investigating some app-building solutions. Great comments and much appreciated.

Q1. I found it online while searching methods for easy app creation. Q2. No, not really, people just mainly use apps for everyday use. I have been making app on buzz touch, an i think it is great. before buzz touch i tried other online ways to make an app, but now have unsubscribed from them! I love buzz touch and i have recommend it to so many people!!! Thank you so, so much. ^^You can quote that. LOL No but seriously, its amazing and the amount of help the forums does is amazing. I think you should make a separate forum website for buzztouch, it would be amazing! Warm regards, Jawdoss

I am having a problem with buzztouch at the moment. the last three apps that i have downloaded have error in them. I have had to get others help to help me fi them. some screens are named incorrectly (not ones that i named, one that are already in the app, like screen_test was named screen_Test) so i had to go through and renamed all the screen_Test and so on. there were also other little errors like the application name wasn't out in that part where is says myfirstapp_getDelegate (or something like that). Just thought i would let you know :)

@jawdoss: Your post is confusing. In fact, I don't understand at all what you mean? Are you suggesting that something "magically" changed. I'm not trying to make light of what you're saying, I just don't understand how this could be happening? Also, how is this post "Are you in Australia? BT looking for some feedback." related to your concerns? Giggling a bit. I'm happy to look into this if you want but need a little more info.

David, I am brand new to buzztouch. I found it because I also paid for an online app making course through one of the deal offers I subscribe to - Living Social I think - they are just the promoters and not the company that actually provides the course. The course provided videos on making apps and they basically lead you through the buzztouch interface showing you very basic techniques for making an app. The people providing the course are e-careers.co.uk - just in case you're interested David. Personally, I found the videos in this course poor in content and not at all conducive to actually learning anything. I have been through some of the buzztouch videos on this site and have learned more from them than the other course that I actually paid for. Fortunately, I did not pay the full price they say the course is worth or I would have been very annoyed. Bottom line is this - I am impressed with the buzztouch experience I have had so far, although I am in the very very early stages of learning how to do this app thing. I have a few ideas for apps that I now need to try and learn how to put together. I think the pricing for buzztouch is very reasonable, particularly once you actually have some apps put together and on iTunes. I also think the forums are great - I have started working through some of the posts and they have helped me to see which way I have to go. So I am looking forward to getting more into this thing and hopefully making some apps that other people just might be interested in paying for. Thanks to everyone who is contributing to these forums. Especially the Aussies. Hopefully we can all get to know each other a little sometime and maybe form a group over here and help each other out - maybe even get some sort of meetup happening. Take care ...

Kia ora from NZ Just thought I would jump in and say a big hello to all the fellow BT members and to our "across the ditch" friends. I too did a online course through groupon (actually it was my wife lol)and hooked up with BT community from reading a post at warriorforum.com which by the way had so many positive comments about BT I had to have a look for myself and I can tell you I'm not disappointed. Thanks David and the team for a great community,I plan to be a fully paid member and after doing my research and testing other appmaking sites BT's vision and friendly community has won me over. Hopefully more kiwis will join so we can have our own meet up. Cheers PS Almost finished my first app...answers to all my probs found on the forum. AWESOME!!!!
