Plugin Selector Tool

I am in process of creating my first app. The main part of this app is a selection tool. I don't see a plugin that does what I need it to do. Or maybe, I just haven't figured out which plug in would operate as I see it in my head. Here's what I'd like it to do, let's call it Gizmo Selector. When you tap the Gizmo Selector, 1. You are prompted to pick a manufacturer of the gizmo you are using. 2. When you select the manufacturer, you then select the gizmo you are using 3. After that selection, the app will show you what I suggest as a substitute to the gizmo you are using. If you can help out in any way, please let me know....

Many ways to do this. One suggestion: jQuery Mobile filter list. For an example: Go to www.MySkylla.com click on search. Fred

[Edit based on @Fred's comment below] There are at least three ways I can think of to accomplish what you are trying to do: 1. The jQuery Mobile doc method. Another good example of what @Fred is trying to communicate here is at : http://jquerymobile.com/test/docs/lists/lists-search.html 2. You could also create a dynamic php page, but that requires a trip to a server to execute the script. 3. You could also create an HTML page with standard Javascript to handle the dynamic menu building. Do a Google search for "javascript dynamic menu" and there should be examples. All these would use the standard HTML screen in buzztouch. Mark

What @GoNorthWest is trying to say is to link to the jQuery Mobile doc or embed the doc into the app and use the HTML Doc screen to call the jQuery Mobile doc. Fred

Unless I'm missing something, this seems like a very simple et up using either menu button screens or menu simple screens. Menu screen of manufacturers -> menu screen of gizmos -> custom HTML screen with new gizmo suggestion.

@MGoBlue, excellent insight. I would consider using Stobe's list making tool (for creating BT menu items) or use jQuery Mobile's array tool if the list is extensive. Fred

I sorta interpreted his request as a single, dynamic menu selector...the kind you see on a website. But, as @MGoBlue points out, the standard Menu List accomplishes this task natively and with ease! Mark

Thank you for all the great posts. I ended up completing this by simple menu navigation screens. I built it backwards and linked everything up. This may be a bit more work, but it fit my experience level so far.

My next issue with this and I apologize, but I don't know where to put it in the forum. The Menu Button Screen is set on grid and I adjusted the size of the buttons to fit 6 buttons on an iPhone. The buttons do not set up in the center, I have tried to adjust the margins, but that moves the buttons around and shifts them off the screen so I would have to scroll.

The Menu (Button) grid layout is problematical. Consider using Vertical left layout. Throw in a background image and you'll get a better look. Fred
