Todays sad news

Sad, awful and tragic news today, impossible to comprehend. My friends and family were all scrambling for tickets for the Dark Knight Rises, many of us have kids, more of us go to the movies. There but for the grace of God go I (we). Monday morning I'm off to give blood, it isn't going to help anyone involved in this horrid, appalling tragedy but will help someone, somewhere, sometime. I urge you all to do the same, take 30 - 45 mins out, we are healthy and all have the power to save lives. Sorry for the downer post but someone touched me today and if one more person donates blood due to this post good will have been done. Love to all. Keith

My 18 year old son went to a midnight showing last night. I had the news on in the background this morning and heard something about it and sheer panic swept through me. I ran to his room to find him sound asleep. Returning, I got more details and learned it happened in Aurora. My heart goes out to all the families involved and was reminded this morning with the momentary terror I felt that we need to cherish all of the time we have with our loved ones.

I've been a regular donor for years. It's always a good feeling knowing that you can help, even in some small way. As I grow older, I understand less about the violent things people do for whatever reason.

I had a tattoo this year, so I won't be able to donate. I'll do two things: donate a ton of clothes I no longer wear to the local thrift market, and donate canned food to our soup kitchen (we have so much). I wrote a reminder and I'll get that done this Monday. Thoughts and prayers go out to... everyone. David.

Good man MrDavid. We (I) all take so much for granted. Every little counts. Not trying to be sanctimonious but today hit home. Good man.

Keith, thanks for posting this. Our lives can change at any moment. I've felt helpless several times in the past ten years as my wife has been on the brink of death and survived. We count our blessings everyday and give thanks to God. Tragedies like this can remind us all how fragile life is. Hopefully we'll all learn to love a little more, live a little fuller, and lend a helping hand more often. I came across this today from one of the survivors of the shooting. It really touched me. Thought I'd share it. http://aminiatureclaypot.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/so-you-still-think-god-is-a-merciful-god/

I wish so much that I could donate blood for these people and for anyone anywhere but, unfortunately I'm only 14 years old. my thoughts and prayers do go to the victims and their families.
