Compiling on Asus transformer tablet

Hey Folks I have started creating my first app on my asus tranformer tablet at first i was just going to do alot of my work on buzz touch but upon exploring google play i descovered an app called AIDE which is a app creator, copiler and tester. When i opened my project in it and started compilying to wether it would work, the app loaded most of the code but alot of errors based around importing google , geopoints and map actives, i dont understand where these would be coming from as i do not have a map plugin for my app. is it due to the fact im usingmy tablet i have a laptop that has the necassary programmes it would be alot easier if i can do this on my tablet. thankyou in advance.

Hi @PBAJ, Welcome to buzztouch! Both buzztouch v1.5 and v2.0 apps require Google API 8 in order to work. That is because there is code available that supports mapping. If you take out the map activity from AndroidManifest.xml, and remove all the mapping files that come with your download package, then you no longer are required to compile with the Google APIs, and can use straight Android APIs. Here is a tutorial I wrote on the differences between the APIs: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=1C92466E729809D2192E05D I've been interested in experimenting with AIDE. Does it work pretty well? Mark

Thankyou mark i was not sure if you could just delete that code and it would still run. AIDE is pretty good even for a novice for like me, the gui is a bit bare but seeing as its for a tablet i can under stand why, the code display is as good as eclipse i am happy with it. I more impressed that if you know the code you can just create an app and test it on the go. thankyou again Paul

I've looked at it before and if I'm not mistaken you won't be able to sign your app. Fred
