PDF Wont open on Android device.

I don't think this is a buzztouch issue but more related to Android phone in general. When I attempt to open a PDF within my BT 1.5 app I get the following pop up box. Open with which app? Handsent SMS or Messaging.... It seems to be a little confused as to what program to use to open it. But, If I use Astro file manager to just point to a pdf on the device it opens fine with Adobe or other PDF viewers. Has anyone run into this and have a solution? Thanks

You need a helper app like Adobe Reader. Check out this tutorial I published last week...it should get you going! http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=AD2034D826E788447978688 Mark

Thanks, I have adobe reader installed. Still does not do it. The only time it seems to suggest the correct program is when I open from a file manager. If an application like my BT app requests a PDF its a no go...

Since when? I have had this app runnng for 6 months on my phone Android 2.2 and a Android tablet 3.0 with no issues. I no longer have the tablet but I do have the phone. It now has 2.3 on it. Are you sure about PDF's not working. Because I also have this issue with doc files. matter of fact all file that are on the device and not URL based. It seems to be an Android problem not calling the PDF Reader. As I said before Adobe Reader is installed and it will open files but not from BT App (1.5 for sure)

The BTv1.5 PDF screen has never worked. It was never finished for Android. The other three doc files don't work in BTv1.5 Android. They all work in BTv2.0 You can reference a PDF online via a URL using the Custom URL, webpage screen. Fred

Mark's tutorial may have addressed this. All of my apps contain hundreds of PDF files so I ran into this same problem a while back, and solved it. How I solved it I don't exactly remember but I think the trick was to set the default program to view the PDF to your browser instead of the PDF viewer itself. The PDF viewers act as browser plugins, so your browser should be able to open them. This worked on my Xoom test tablet, and that was about a year ago... I know everyone says the 1.5 PDF plugin doesn't work, but it always has for me. Hope this helps. Tim

Thanks. I agree the problem is an Android issue. It has always also worked for me. I no longer have the Tablet. So on my phone it recently took an update and thats when the issue started. I did look at the suggested tutorial by Mark and did as it instructed but its a no go for me.. I also used Astro file manager based on another suggestion in the net saying it allowed you to set the default program to use. But, that did not seem to do the trick. Still searching for options....

any luck/progress with the PDF on Android? for sure loading a pdf from a URL is very iffy on Android devices. I'm converting pdf to html pages now until I come up with a better solution. Would love to see the load pdf fromURL work on Android better. maybe in some of the new Androind flavors like ICS and JB?
