Power Point screen struggle...

Hiya - First let me apologize in advance if this is already answered somewhere, I have looked in all the places that seem likely, and have gone back over the tutorial videos... so I will ask here. I want to load a power point presentation to my app and have created it, it's a .pptx file. I have tried moving the file to the BT_Docs folder, no luck, I have tried moving it to the BT_Images folder - no luck... I have tried loading the file to dropbox and choosing the URL option, no luck... Can someone tell me what I am missing? Where do I place that file? I tried converting it to a PDF, and putting it on a PDF screen, and it works like that, but for some reason when I do it that way, it ends up as the screen displayed when you launch the app, rather than the menu screen. Any help would be most appreciated.

This is the screen I get "Data for this screen has not been downloaded. Please check your internet connection."

Hi Leanne, I'm going to assume that you're talking about iOS here and not Android, otherwise you'd have had problems with PDF as well! The BT_Docs folder is indeed where it needs to go. You also need to drag the file into your Xcode project, into the same Xcode folder. Here's a doc that talks about that: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf However, I think the issue is that .pptx files are not supported natively on iOS, whereas .ppt ones are. I've not had any luck with either .pptx or .xlsx files in my testing. So, I think if you convert it to a .ppt file, and then make sure it's in your project correctly, you should be OK! Mark

Thanks so much Mark, Yes - I am in working in IOS here...I will have a look at that link now, and will google how to convert a pptx to a ppt. I appreciate the time you took replying. I am having HEAPS of fun creating what I always thought was well beyond my scope. Thanks for the help! Leanne

In PowerPoint you can just do a Save As, and pick the ppt extension instead of pptx! Mark

Yip - did that, and followed the instructions on the link you gave me, got it over to my BT_Docs file and tried again... still no joy, I have deleted the old screen, removed it from the menu and started from scratch even... I think I need to walk away for a while! The only thing I can't work out how to do is a "clean" the instructions say do a "Clean" and "Run"... would that make a difference?

Forget to say thanks! Yikes - on here five minutes and have lost my manners! The instructions were very clear - so it must be me! Will take a break and attack it later on tonight (I am in New Zealand) Leanne

Hi Leanne, So, this should totally not be this hard. This is literally one of those screens that just works! Please check to make sure that you have no spaces in your filename (like "Cool File.ppt"), and that indeed it ends in .ppt and not .pptx (and that you saved it that way, not just renamed it). Make sure your file is in the BT_Docs folder, and in the Xcode project as well. Make sure you have your PPT screen configured with the correct filename (not a URL, but local file). You should not have to Clean, but if you want to for good measure, do a Product...Clean from the Xcode menu bar. I'll be up for a while, so please let me know how it goes! We can do a TeamViewer session or something if you need more help. Mark

One other thing...if it still doesn't work, can you send me your BT_Config.txt file so I can take a look? You can send it to MrkFleming at gmail dot com! Mark
