Different Emulators

Is it possible to add a new device in the AVD manager with Google 8 but have the skin from the Galaxy Tablet. I ask because I would like a perspective of the view from different devices. I hate the default WVGA800.......

@GoNorthWest I have the Galaxy 8 in my add-ons already but when I choose the target api the skin changes to the default automatically. It seems like Im just missing the api for the galaxy? If Google 2.2.is different than Android 2.2 then should I not see a repository in the SDK manager? Screenshot pic.twitter.com/pbQwhY9

Yes, you should have the option to download both or either Android 2.2 or Google 2.2. You only need the Google API, actually, if you are taking advantage of Google Maps. Otherwise, if you're not, and you've removed all reference to that in your project, you can just use the Android API. According to the pic, you already have the Google API installed. So, when you configured your AVD, you should be able to pick between Android 2.2 OR Google 8. I've never changed a skin on the emulator, so I'll give it a go tonight. Mark

@GoNorthWest Please don't kill me but can you expand on removing map references. I removed the line from the manifest but am not sure as to what lines or files need to be removed in addition.... :) UPDATE: Simply deleting the maps line in manifest allows the app to open in non Google API's. The app has launched and runs in my Galaxy emulator... You can install from a server..... Thanks again @GNW.....

Excellent thread here- you are Self Hosted 2.0 BandO? bluestacks - thanks for the tip! signing up now and will be playing with that later. I'm just starting to look at the Android stuff in different resolutions screen sizes and never could get the emulator to work before. Maybe these tips using nuking the Google code will help. Now to find a good reference for the multitudes of Androind Screen sizes/images to get a baseline size set....
