Lost installed theme files (self-hosted)

I would like to customize the control panel, but I am not sure what to do next. There are clear instructions at this link: http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=535091316413A214FAA6E00&command=isSearching&currentPage=1&topicTitle=customize&createdBy=&repliedBy=&minViews=-1&maxViews=-1&minReplies=-1&maxReplies=-1&forumCategory= This is what David said to do: a) Copy the /mytheme folder from the /files directory. This is not in the download but is created during the install so be sure to do this after installing. FTP to your server, copy the /files/mytheme folder. b) Paste and rename this folder so you have another theme, maybe mySecondTheme in the /files directory c) Change the Theme path in the Admin > Server Settings screen. My problem is that there isn't a my theme folder in the files directory (David's "a" step). After installation, I moved around the files a bit from where I first installed them, and maybe I lost part of the installation. Any suggestions on how I should proceed? Do I need to reinstall?

You have no themes folder in the files folder? What does your site look like?! If you've moved stuff around you should be able to find the locations by viewing the page source of your home page (right click somewhere on the page and select 'view source' - that's in firefox, it might be different in other browsers)) look for the path to style.css, it'll be somewhere near the top of the page.

The site looks normal and seems to work. You are right....the files must be somewhere. I will look at the page source code. I moved the entire BT-server-2.1.7 directory. I also ended up ftping the files to two levels...to the domain AND to a sub directory. I deleted the files in the "wrong" one. I don't really know what I am doing, but learning by doing is the most fun way to learn. I did learn a lot cleaning up, and maybe I need to reinstall so I can really learn it this time. ;) One other strange thing is that I started three Buzztouch apps and I don't see them in the files folder. They must be somewhere too. Should I see my BT projects in the files folder?

Best way to learn, mess around! Yes, in a sub directory, something like yourwebsite.com/files/applications/long_id_full_of_charcters. Then the zip files you generate that you download for eclipse are in yourwebsite.com/files/temp If everything is working alright and you can see your apps in the user area, then they must be there somewhere! An easy way to find locations when you're clicking around your server is to just check out the paths in your browser address bar. Perhaps there's some confusion after doing two installs?

I couldn't find them anywhere in my local files, and so I went to GoDaddy, and they are on the server! So that explains why my site works. I was assuming I should still have the files locally, but now I am not sure. Going back to David's instructions, is he referring to changes that I make on the server only, not locally? I installed MAMP today, and that allowed me to see my control panel locally. I am really surprised that it worked locally, since the files aren't there. Thank you so much for helping me with this, @raveyd! I owe you a huge favor. P.S. I also found the three test apps I created on the server.

Thank you so much for helping me, @raveyd! I got it up and running thanks to you. Here is a link: http://whitebuffalomobile.com/BT-server-2.1.7/index.php I can't believe that I have my logo on something so beautiful! It's a dream come true. It almost feels as good as the day Apple approved my first app.

Thanks for looking at it! My son made it for me. He's a real developer, not faking it like me.
