Self Hosted Server Tutorials Mod

This is a little mod I find quite useful. It opens up GoNorthWests tutorials in the user control panel using the bt shadowbox feature. I find it useful for quick reference when building apps, without needing to navigate away from my server. I guess if you have your own users on your server, they may not even be aware of buzztouch, so it will probably be useful for them too. It's mostly Android tutorials, but it's dead easy to edit the tutorials.php file to add iOS tuts, or anything else really. Download: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/56760890/tutorials.rar Instructions (also in the zip file): Upload tutorials.php to your files > custom directory Go to your servers admin area: Select Control Panel Links Select Account Control Panel Links Add Link Link label: Tutorials Link URL: /files/custom/tutorials.php Opens In: Open in Same Window Save. Tutorials are now in users control panels. I hope you don't mind Mark!

So, let me ask a stupid question. Does this mean that I could put tutorials in my panel for clients to see? So I could have my own little training program for clients when they go to my panel? That would be so cool!

Hi Susan, not a stupid question at all! Yes, you can do that, no problem. Open up the tutorials.php file. If you're on windows you can just open it in notepad. There's a bunch of code at the start that you can ignore, then on or around line 63, you'll see lots of repeated code that looks like this: <div style='padding:10px;'> <a href='http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Things_You_Need_Before_You_Start_Developing_Apps_v1.0.pdf' rel="shadowbox;height=550;width=950" title='Things you need to know before you start developing apps'><img alt="arrow" src='/images/arr_right.gif' />Things you need to know before you start developing apps</a> </div> This is the location of the tutorial: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Things_You_Need_Before_You_Start_Developing_Apps_v1.0.pdf and these, in two places: Things you need to know before you start developing apps are the link text to the tutorial and the heading of the lightbox. That's it! A good place to put your tutorials would be in the files/custom folder of your bt server install, they won't get lost in that folder if you do a server update. Drop me a pm if you want a hand.
