Errors installing packages in SDK manager

I am following the step by step instructions in this document http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Setting_Up_Your_Android_Development_Environment_v1.3.pdf The options I have in the SDK manager look nothing like the screen shot... however, I chose the API 8 packages, I then get an error "This package depends on "Missing SDK Platform Android, API 8" Under tools I see an update available for SDK Platform-tools. If I try to install that one I get an error that a file cannot be moved because the file is in use. I tried disabling my anti-virus like it suggests and have no other open programs, but it will not get past that error. I'm not even sure that's what I need to resolve the other error I am getting. This is all new to me. I am trying to write an app for the company I work for. I maintain and manage the website, I'm not completely computer-illiterate, but I am not an expert by any means. I thought I was smart enough to do this.... but I am now starting to wonder. Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I am stuck. Thanks

Hi @kcsma78, Welcome to buzztouch! Give this guide a look...it's an improvement to the one you're currently reading (which I also wrote!): http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf Couple things might help the install progress: * Exit Eclipse and run the Android SDK manager directly by double-clicking "SDK Manager.exe" in your Android install folder. * Right-click on the same exe, select "Run As Administrator" Either one of those methods should allow you to proceed. Feel free to contact me directly if you run into any further issues. My email address is in both those guides. Mark

Eclipse is a high maintainence environment, don't get disheartened! Sometimes a simple pc reboot will stop the running processes and allow you to continue.
