Showing a route in maps

I want to show a route for cyclists in my app. I want to just be able to basically overlay the maps with a blue line, essentially. It would be for cyclists to see what cycle routes are around them. Here is a photo of the kind of route I would want to show: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35528309/App/Screen%20Shot%202013-04-20%20at%2023.28.15.png I would like it to just be an overlay over an already exiting native map, because I using other maps in the app, and I don't want this map to just be Google - I just want it to be the native map to the iOS running on that device. How would I do that?

Precisely!!! That is exactly what I'm after. I really like the paper curl to change the map as well - hadn't really thought about that before. Anyway, how?

The University of Arizona app shows you the path to take on a step-by-step basis overlaid on their campus map. Just showing you another technique. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/arizona-mobile/id437682106?mt=8 -- Niraj

It's a very nice feature that I would be looking at integrating, but how would I do this?

For your situation, Kittsy's method shown on the video is what you need. His method will allow you to "connect" two random points with a specified path. -- Niraj

While we wait for some wise words from Kittsy, take a look at the free app TrendMe which craftily lays out lines on maps... Chris

There seems like a good deal of interest in this show-route-on-a-map function, myself including. I'm interested in hearing about any solutions or plain-english instructions that may be out there.
