Scammer?

I wanted to make all in the BT community aware. The below message was sent to me this morning on BT. I have seen this kind of thing in the past and tends to be a scam where they want to "give" you money. Once you start to discuss with them they end up needing info from you that will give them access to your accounts. Also another indication is in the message he states his customer "Mr. Daniel" has the same name as me, but that is not my name...LOL BEWARE Buzztouch FRIENDS!!!! **Hello My Friend I am Mr. Joseph Nii Budu Tetteh .a citizen of Ghana.i have the existence of a big amount of money in my bank that belongs to a customer, Mr.Daniel who happen to have the same name as yours. The fund is now without claim because Daniel died in a deadly earthquake in china in 2008.I want your cooperation so as to make the bank send you the fund as the beneficiary and next of kin to the fund. This transaction will be of a great mutual assistance to us. send me your reply of interest so that i will give you the details.strictly send it to my private email account or send me your email address to send you details of this transaction. At the receipt of your reply,i will give you details of the transaction, and a copy of the deposit certificate of the fund and also the incorporation certificate of the company that generated the fund. Looking foward to hearing from you. best regards, Mr. Joseph Nii Budu Tetteh [email protected] **

The question mark in your title is unnecessary. I get about 300 of these per day here in the UK. Particularly prevalent once some global upheaval enters the news - 'I am a citizen of Libya/Syria/Egypt' etc. Ghana/Nigeria is a particular favourite for these clowns. Waiting for the Ukraine ones to start any day now.

I would be very surprised if there was somebody who never received one of these. The fact that it is coming from a BT user is a bit more worrying but I am sure that the BT guys will take care of that pronto. Farcat

I'll report it for the bug list so we can close the spammers account.
