Buzzcast Episode 04 submitted!

I just updated the Buzzcast feed, so it should be propagating out to whatever service you use to subscribe. I think you all will enjoy this one. I got a chance to chat with our good friend GoNorthWest (as if I needed to increase his celebrity status here, lol!) Also, I give my advice on source code documentation. My website is acting a little weird today, but it shouldn't affect the podcast feed at all. If you are not subscribed, here is a link for itunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/buzzcast/id537332737 Episode 04 Shownotes: http://idevdepot.com/episode04/ Enjoy!

Actually its exactly 1 week apart from the last one. Plus, Mother Nature again decided to remove my electricity privileges. I'm starting to wonder what we did (in Virginia) to piss her off! I know you're just kidding, MrDavid. But I wanted to put it all on the record anyhow. (Hoping for clear skies for the rest of the summer!)

I must say what a pleasure it was to talk with Chris for the podcast! Lots of great geek talk that I don't normally get to engage in aside from at work. And mother nature cooperated on both our sides...no electrical outages during the talk (we have summer monsoon storms rolling through AZ these days!). Mark

It was great to hear Mark live and in person! Great advice on keeping records on all of the changes to the apps. After I struggle through something one time, it is amazing how the next time I don't remember how I solved the problem! Notes are the answer. I also like the App of the Week feature. It gave me a lot of ideas.

The tip of the week is GREAT advice. I have been playing around with Dropbox's code to integrate DB within my app. There are quite a few things that have to be pasted in and changed. I got about halfway done and started thinking I wouldn't remember all the places I've messed with the code. So I started commenting the code with things like "Dropbox code starts here" and "...ends here" so I could string search if needed and would know where to begin and end deleting (which I had to do because I couldn't get it to work!). Alas, it's still a bit too much for me to work with right now. I also did what @Stobe suggests, which is to record it all in a document for a reference. THAT was invaluable. Sure, I commented in the code, but having the filenames recorded turned out to be a timesaver - I guess I could have gone back to the DB developer site, reread instructions to find all of the files I changed, but having it referenced myself made it much easier (and quicker). Thanks, @Stobe, for another great podcast! And thanks @GoNorthWest/Mark for sharing your thoughts with us as well!

Listed to #3 and halfway thru 4. Buzzcast is really starting to mature. Great content and tips, love the format and flow of the show. #3 with the quizzes - this is a MUST listen if you use quizzes. All of the talk about the modifiers was excellent. Went right to the show notes and stashing away those ideas/suggestions for future work. Thanks for the tip on T/f, will be trying this in a 2.0 soon. Love how you are using show notes in conjuction with show. Thanks for the link on Envato. I've been surfing all those other sites individully. Nice to see they are tied together. I'm surprised you didn't have an affiliate link to register on Envato! I'm trying to find the 'register new account' link on Envato.com and not finding one. I think I registered for the support site and they are boasting a SSO in the future- but exactly but where do I go to deposit my $20 and start looking for goodies? Excited about the idevdeals site too. Very cool to throw out promo codes too. and IMO you are NOT out of bounds to advertise or use links on your site or from the mailing list. Thanks for all the effort/work you put into this! I feel bad for BT users that might have language barriers and are missing out on the cast.

Thanks ATRAIN53. If you sign up for any of the sites (Graphic River, Code Canyon, etc), they are all the same username and password. The money you deposit can be used on any of the sites. And I'd be surprised if I didn't use an affiliate link in the show notes. If not, you can go striaght here: http://codecanyon.net?ref=stobe When you go to purchase something, you get the option of depositing money, or buying it with "one time" funds, which is much more expensive. And the "money" that I get from them for any affiliate links goes straight back into purchasing content for my websites, podcast, apps, etc.
