User location

Maps are installed and running, but my device no longer indicates where the user location is. I've read the other resolutions, but I keep receiving errors in the coding that won't allow it to run. Thoughts?

Hi, If you are using an Emulator or Simulator, they obviously don't support GPS! Make sure also that in the Core Properties setting for your app, that you have GPS turned on. It's the last option in the list. Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks for your comment. I have GPS turned on, and have it exported with its Release Key to a tablet for testing. To give you a bit of a background, I installed the app on the tablet for testing, and at that point, I had markers on the map, but it was covered in grey tiling. At that point, both the locations and the user location were indicated, but no map. I then fixed the map with the release key, which fixed the issues with the background, but removed the user location. Any ideas?

Hmmmm...that sounds strange! Are the map locations close to where the user actually is? Because I think the map will zoom in on a cluster of close locations and perhaps not show the user location in that instance. Mark

Zoomed out, and it won't find the location. When you click on a location to find the driving directions, it says "Your device does not appear to be reporting it's location"

If you are up for it, would you be willing to send me a copy of your BT_Config.txt file to check out? MrkFleming at gmail dot com. Mark

Sure, what's the best way to send the actual file. Should I just copy the code from assets-->BT_Config.txt into an email?

Yep! Just attach the BT_Config.txt file to an email. That'll work perfectly! Mark

"Your device does not appear to be reporting it's location" Turn on " Start Tracking Location (turn on GPS)" from the core settings in the Control Panel. The Android Emulator (AVD) does support GPS. Fred

He actually had that turned on. But, the local config file did not. So, I think it was a sycing issue with the config file. Either way...he's up and running now! Mark
