Apps are rejected 10.6

Hi, A Week ago, my app went into "review", but became rejected by Apple for the following reason: 10.6: Apple and our customers place a high value on simple, refined, creative, well thought through interfaces. They take more work but are worth it. Apple sets a high bar. If your user interface is complex or less than very good it may be rejected. My menu order is 1.Home 2.Listings 3.Open house 4.Call us 5.Email us 6.our location 7.Mortgage Calculator 8.News 9.Share on Facebook 10.Share by Email 11.Take a Fun Quiz I don't know why it is rejected. So I am just using standard UI controls. Can anyone please give me some advise?

Looks like a very useful app! Have you considered a splash page? The image of the baby as your main image is a bit confusing for the purpose of the app. REFERENCE: http://www.listonsocial.com/los/main.jpg Also, your home screen shows what looks like a scanned business card with cut off information. Could this be an issue? Maybe someone can help you cut out your image from the business card. REFERENCE: http://www.listonsocial.com/los/home.jpg Another possibility is that the REMAXX logo, used on the home screen, may not be allowed as it may be considered intellectual property that you do not own. Nothing should stop you from saying 'Nasira Jamal, REMAXX agent'. Does that make sense? Other than that seems great. I'd love to know how you made the news page. The app seems very functional. I guess appearance is in the eye of the beholder, I personally don't like the look. I would think that's not as important in a app such as yours. Perhaps if others agree with me then that may be a valid point. It's certainly very subjective. Fred

I would never submit a BT 1.4 app to Apple these days unless it really did something remarkable. My advice would be to start from scratch and build the app in 1.5 or BT Server. The 1.4 apps look very dated these days. I'd also try and spruce up the news and listings page, add a header icon / image for each news / RSS story you are pulling.

MacApple, I am not using 1.4. These apps were created with self hosted 2.0 bt server

Fair enough. When I saw this: http://www.listonsocial.com/los/main.jpg I assumed it was the old 1.4 interface. It does look a bit dated buddy. As mentioned above this screen: http://www.listonsocial.com/los/home.jpg looks like it was thrown together without really caring about how it would look. The screenshots make your images look pixelated, are they like that in the app or is that just degradation as you save the screenshots. I wouldn't worry about the ReMaxx logo, if she is a ReMaxx agent and you are building the app for her you should be free to use it without issue. So.... How about you add some more content, there doesn't seem to be enough in the app to bring a user back much. Add in some FAQ's about buying a house, hints and tips type thing, make the user want to come back back to your reference materials. Add a quiz in to test users knowledge about home buying pitfalls.

Hi Daku, I noticed you asked about the outcome of a 10.6 issue that I'd posted about in another thread - if you read my last post in the approved forum you will see the history of some recent 10.6 trouble I had and how it was resolved. I have to agree with other comments from the guys that the appearance/graphics look a bit on the lame side at first lights. I'd try a re-design as a starting point.

@eespverbatim, Could you give a link to the thread where you have posted a resolution? I went here, but it doesn't give a resolution. You say that you deleted AS and re-submitted. What is AS? http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?id=E276B7DA6E20952905C5CFD&fid=06DB0BCB08E8888&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1

@Daku, sorry, my comments are probably a bit oblique as the story spans two different posts. I posted in the rejections forum first, if you look at that you'll get the history of my rejections, then my subsequent post in the approvals forum will make more sense. Again, sorry, "AS" is the "App 2" referred to in my rejections forum post.

@eespverbatim, I looked at your threads, but can't figure it out. can you look at my screen shots for the app above and let me know what you think I need to change?

The basic thrust of my threads on 10.6 was that I re-submitted the app hoping to get a different reviewer, and that that was successful. I also stripped out HTML from an app as well as re-design some list menus as button menus and that did the trick. From my experience it can often come down to tiny points of design & presentation in the opinion of the reviewer and to that extent it's a bit arbitrary - frustrating I know! I can't see any obvious clangers from your screenshots, but in general you could do with upping the graphic design significantly. The baby image on your front page seems a bit weird and also the agent photo banner that you have included doesn't appear to be neatly sized and framed properly - it seems to be cropped oddly on the right. Things like this can rile Apple. Also, did you do this for both phone & pad or just phone? If there's a pad version it may be there that the issue lies. Finally, try to ask Apple what their problem is. I know this seems impossible as they never give you a proper answer, but I have on a couple of occasions got them to cough up, and in one instance their problem was something that would never have struck me in a million years, so its worth a go.

Hello! I have the same problem with my application (10.6) ... It has been rejected many times. I've made several improvements suggested by the App Review Team, but unfortunately returned today to reject. I ask you to help solve my problem. You can see screenshots at: http://www.inforneris.com/screens/screenshots.html Thank you! Emanuel
