Enchanted coin app

Hello I'm a member of a forum community and I want to make an app even though I never had a smartphone. Basically I will make an Enchanted Coin like in Harry Potter http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Enchanted_coin It will be an app which only a few people in the world will use. The people from the community/forum I come from. _________________________________________________________________ It has to be able to send out a signal to everyone who has the app when I or some moderators I choose, send out the signal. Very simple. It's a short signal which tells that a certain person is active. Like, it has to make a beep/hum or something, or even a tune, idk yet. (btw this is not some creepy shit, but just usefull for our community). I'm ofcourse going to try to make it myself. Try the fun lessons etc. But I will appreciate if you guys can give me some good hints and tips before I begin. I'm thinking of making the app both for Android and iPhone and since I don't have any smartphone it means a lot to me if you guys can help me a little. Also I would like to know if it's possible for me to send out the signal from my computer without having the app? Thanks c64

Sorry for double posting, but I kinda already gave up. I hope you guys has some ideas how I can make this app anyway. I really want to make this app, but it's just too hard for me. I thought it would be easier. Well I knew it would be hard, but not that hard.

Really wonderful idea. I think delivering up a smart notification to your users would do what you want. Sending smart notifications can be achieved by integrating a push notification parse sdk appsfire app booster sdk. You can send instant notifications to your users via web either using a pc or your smartphone. Check the following link for more info. http://appsfire.com/appbooster https://parse.com/apps/quickstart

To be frank, if you're on the verge of giving up after just one hour, building apps is probably not for you!

I guess raveyd is right. But often when I get an idea I'm ready to use a lot of time on my project. But only if I can see an end to it. I'm sure someone would be able to make such an simple app in no time. If I followed Sandeep steps, would I then be able to make the app in less than, like, 5 hours? 10 hours?

First things first, your thinking too far into it right now. First thing I suggest is read how everything works, take the quizzes in the BTU and then read all the guides and keep an open mind on how eclipse works, and how Xcode works. Developing for Apple you need a Developer account $99 dollars a year to publish apps into their market place Developing for Android a one time payment of 25 dollars for a developer account to publish your apps Google Play marketplace your going to want to learn about Eclipse for Android, and Xcode for iOS. So just learning about it all exceeds 5 hours. Ive been around these forums for a while and I still am learning. So basically like Ravey said earlier, if your ready to give up without really trying. Then app development is not for you

You can make an app in minutes or just a few hours, depending how you go about it. Making an app that does something unique will require you to master the process. Some have experience in other areas that makes it easy, some are learning from scratch. Sandeep has some good suggestions. You have an interesting concept, but that's just the first part. Try making a simple app and his suggestion well be easier to visualize. My article/tutorial, The Buzztouch Process, will help you get stated. Find it at www.MySkylla.com Fred

You could send out the signal with a group SMS (low-tech), and use the app for other material for your project. Don't give up! Making apps is the most fun thing you could do.

@Fred@mySkylla com I like your website. I would just love it even more if it was a tutorial to make exactly this app :p You guys are right. I don't want to make a lot of app before I make this one. I just thought the app was simple enough, but maybe not. Like Photoshop is really easy to understand and learn. This is different. @SusanMetoxen well that will get expensive because people come from Europe, U.S, Russia, Australia etc.

Sorry for bumping. But I've been thinking about this program again, and I know that I won't be able to make it, so I humbly ask you guys if you know some other kind of app/program for pc/mac, android/iPhone, where you can kind of make a group and you make people join that group. Then you can send the group members the signal and maybe the app will make a sound or turn red or something. It would be best if it wasn't some kind of program so the users can answer the signal. But the second best program would be good enough for me if you guys know a program? I've tried google without succes. Thank you in advance.
