That's what I've used and it works. My icon sizes are 24x24. I've put them in the BT_Images folder, uploaded them to the Files in the control panel, and pointed each tab to the image in the Icon field of the Layout page. There have been times that my icon didn't show, but it has always been because I forgot a step (namely copying the file into the BT_Images folder in SDK or to Clean/Build after).

Here is a link to Apple's documentation for all icon sizes. You might be looking for the second to last row in their table? http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/IconsImages/IconsImages.html

And this is the set that I've been using. There are 3 sizes - and for the tab icons I'm using the 24's. http://blog.twg.ca/2010/11/retina-display-icon-set/

Okay.... I have made all the Icons with 24x24 Pixel PNG with now Transparence. Uploaded to my BT Server via Image Upload, pointed the new Icons to my Panel via the Tabbedmenü in BT. Downloaded the Source, Dobbelclicked it this opened it in Xcode, then Dragged the Folders BT_Plugins, BT_Images, BT_Docs, BT_Video and BT_Sound into Xcode.... and Started the iPhone 5 Emulator... NO Icons apear ;-( Only the Blue Shiny Effect is on the Button that i Select.... I have no Idea where the Problem is ;-( Looks like this: www.webernig.com/001_BTFORUM/err.png

I think its because it can use those files. Try google for free iPad icons, and donwload some that look like the ones I showed in the previous link, and try one of those files.

I agree. I think it might have to do with the icon's background. The ones MadRod and I are using have transparent backgrounds. Perhaps yours are white? I'm new as well, so I don't know how much more I can think of. But, seeing your screenshot makes me think it might be a background issue.

@Worker73 - Sounds to me like you are not dragging them into your xcode project. With xcode open, drag the icons into the BT_images folder. You should get a message from xcode asking you about copying the files. Make sure you check the line Copy items to destination group's folder. Also you want to "Create groups for any added folders" and make sure your target is selected in "Add to targets." Uploading your icons to BT Server is for reference only and does not put the icons into your project.

I think it has to do with the type of icons. Im not a designer so I don't know technically what are the specs of the icons. Being trying to understand that as well. Cheers.

Okay. I downloaded you icon you listed above. Those are definitely the problem. From Apple's documentation: After you’ve decided on the appearance of your icon, follow these guidelines as you create it: Use pure white with appropriate alpha transparency. Do not include a drop shadow. Use anti-aliasing. If you decide to add a bevel, be sure that it is 90° (to help you do this, imagine a light source positioned at the top of the icon). For toolbar and navigation bar icons on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, create an icon in the following sizes: About 20 x 20 pixels About 40 x 40 pixels (high resolution) For tab bar icons on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, create an icon in the following sizes: About 30 x 30 pixels About 60 x 60 pixels (high resolution) Don’t include text in a custom tab bar icon. Instead, use the tab bar item APIs to set the title for each tab (for example, initWithTitle:image:tag:). If you need to adjust the automatic layout of the title, you can use the title adjustment APIs (such as setTitlePositionAdjustment:). Note: For a tab bar icon, you can also provide a set of two fixed images, one for the unselected appearance and one for the selected appearance. If you provide fixed images, iOS does not treat them as template images and so it does not apply any standard or custom tab bar tint to them. However, iOS still draws the selection indicator image when the user taps a tab that contains a fixed-image icon. (To learn more about the selection indicator image, see “Tab Bar.”)

custom icons and tabbar icons - totally more time consuming than necessary, esp with all the different sizes/specs for really 4 devices! (iphone, iphone retina, ipad, ipadretina) These are the articles I use as reference: tab icons: http://greenerpastures.dk/blog/iphone-udvikling/how-to-make-tab-bar-icons app icons: http://mrgan.tumblr.com/post/708404794/ios-app-icon-sizes (the photoshop template here is super useful)
