This app may interest events photographers...

Hi everybody! First, big thanks to BT gang for making this possible! As I'm (among other things) a concert photographer, I had the idea to test my latest app for 'appcasting' photos shot at Montreux Jazz Festival... So... from June 29 and until July 14, everyday I upload some snapshots on my website that can be seen only on an iOS app. It's intended as a preview for iOS users, who may see some photos before everybody else (of course, many more photos are added later on the 'regular' galleries of the website, but in a lower res). You may download this free app here: http://itunes.apple.com/en/app/montreux/id532997515 All photos are iPad 2 resolution when seen on an iPad - bigger than on the website, so it's a real bonus for iOS users. Technically, it's done with a JQuery/CSS slideshow, with a JS script redirecting iPhone users to a lower res JQuery/CSS slideshow. Quite simple, but effective (less impressive on a 3G iPhone, though... use a 4G or an iPad 2!)... Your notes and reviews on the App Store are welcome, of course! Yes, folks, you can do things like this with BT, check it out! Best greetings to all of you! Jack - fusions.ch - Montreux - Switzerland

Very cool! I'm a photographer (amateur, but dedicated) as well, and this may inspire me to develop a similar app! Lots of great stuff to photograph here in the American SW! App downloading right now! Mark

Hope you'll like it! If you have an iPhone and an iPad, install it on both and compare... You'll see most of the screens are looking quite different. All this thanks to the JS script... And as for the use of slideshows, I'm currently preparing a new app making extensive use of them to display animated infographics. Er... not really 'animated', just playing with fades between slides, but the effect is quite interesting for e.g. tutorials. I just hope Apple will accept it... Jack

@fusionsch beautifull app. Was wondering if you could help me out I'm struggling with localization and you've done it in a simple way, in the screens you have the "in english link" link and it takes the user to a certain line in your screen. That I understand. But on your www.fusions.ch screen you've done it in even a better way. You have the diferent flags and the text changes dependingon the flag you clicked. How do I do that? I have an app of portuguese castle ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/castelos-de-portugal/id530311902?ls=1&mt=8 ) and need to localize it. This is a great way to do it. Thanks.

Hi MadRod! Thanks for the compliment! The 'www.fusions.ch' screens are just URL screens with contents pulled from our web server. To do this, you'll need a web server with PHP and MySQL. Every entity featured on our website is an entry in MySQL, with lots of different fields. One of the field contains the French descriptive text, another the English one, etc. When you tap on the flag, you send a request to a different PHP file, displaying a slightly different content. In that case, the 'descriptive text' is different (and things coded directly in the PHP file). Without web server, you can do it directly with BuzzTouch, using the 'HTML doc' plugin. Create your screens as HTML files, and images with links to other languages pages. Hope it will help! Jack
