Emulator maps working, but not on the device

I have my full map with locations and grids working on the emulator, but when I emailed myself an exported apk to my tablet, the map background does not appear, and only shows the pins and user's current location. Any ideas?

How do I go about doing that? (Sorry, I'm a total noob at coding, and don't want to mess up the app) Thanks, Dan

I should have said remove the google maps debug key, But perhaps your not using one. If not turnoff debug in your manifest. Fred

I am using the google maps debug key. In the strings.xml file, there is this code <string name="googleMapsAPIKeyDebug">*********</string> Do I simply delete this line and save to remove the debug key?

Return to original state or simply just comment out the line: // this is how to comment out a line. Fred

So would it then look like this? /<string name="googleMapsAPIKeyDebug">*********</string>/ ?

I tried that, and got an error on line 4 that says "Found Text" (line 4 is the line above the one that I'm trying to comment out. (See below) <string name="app_name">Kingston Symphony Association</string> //<stringname="googleMapsAPIKeyDebug">0l50OfePbuL7ZSCIbXocSPkvJyfO38FFqN3gtA</string>/ <string name="googleMapsAPIKeyRelease">0l50Ofe-PbuIrgoaiVZvVR2Yl3W9uCxbyZyapFA</string> <string name="blank"></string>

Hi Fred, finally got it to work. Locations and background now work on the tablet, but the user location is still not coming up. I tried to go through the tutorial that you posted about modifying the user location, but I'm not sure where to actually place the code (buzztouch 2.0), as it keeps creating errors. Any advice about setting the user location?

Yup, GPS is allowed. The strange thing is, when the Debug mode was still on, and the background of the map wasn't appearing, the user location was working. As soon as I got the Release key signed and installed, the map works, but the user location doesn't.
