Possible to bulk upload image files for use in app?

Hello, Is it possible to bulk upload image files into an app so that when I click select, they'll be there? I tried FTP'ing them into the folder where the other images are but they do not appear in the list when I go to the File Manager. I made sure I uploaded them into the right spot (I could see the others). I want to upload a bunch of images (icons, pictures, etc) and doing it one by one and having to select the upload folder each time will be cumbersome. What am I missing? Thanks.. Chris

Hi, I'm not sure about your question, but I do know that you dont actually have to upload them to BT. You can just type in the name .png and just make sure you copy them to your Xcode folder and app folder in your computer. Cheers

Ok so maybe it is a strategy change I need. What I've been doing is uploading them to the file manager and then using the select link. Like this.. http://imgur.com/tHzRA Is that a bad idea?

Ok I think I understand now. My use of the URL image piece is bad form. I will adopt your style of using the name and then moving the file into xCode. Thanks for helping me learn! Chris

I used to do that, I just felt it was an unecessary step when I learned it was not needed, just worked faster just typing the file name, instead of selecting it. When you donwload you code, you will still have to copy it to Xcode and project file, even if you upload it. Images will not be donwloaded, at least a this point. Maybe a BT update may change that. Cheers.

I've posted this question before. What is the purpose of uploading images to the Control Panel? Is it a feature that will be coming soon. About the only benefit I can identify is if you wish to reuse the image in the app it's easy to point and click. Fred

@madrod - that makes sense, thanks for helping me understand. @fred - I am wondering the same thing (both points).

@crafty184: For sure there are lots of approaches when dealing with images and files. The main purpose of the File Manager is to allow you to keep all your project assets in one place and to allow you to change the asset (file or image) after the project is compiled and distributed. Have you tried... a) Uploading a .zip of images b) Using the unzip function in the File Manager? This works well when you're dealing with lots of images. As for "What is the purpose of uploading images to the Control Panel" There are a few different benefits. Firstly, if you don't have a hosting site, and want to use a URL to an image, you can upload them to your File Manager and use the URL provided by the control panel. This allows you to change the image after the app is published. If you include images in the project after downloading and opening in Xcode or Eclipse you won't be able to change them without re-compiling then submitting an app update. It's about flexibility and control. For some this matters, others it doesn't.
