database content in app

I would like to allow authenticated users to update information and unauthenticated to view information within the app. I am comfortable with databases but light on web programming. Any suggestions for incorporating database information into the app?

Use the Custom URL Screen to display info. Custom URL link user to sever. Your database would be on a sever. Fred

Are you talking about the sqlLite database that comes on the device, or writing to a mySQL database on a web server? The latter is pretty easy to do with standard php...doing it internal on the device is an entirely different story, and requires some code modification (not JavaScript to local storage in an HTML page...more complex than that). I am actually wanting to read/write to a mysql database. I have one setup already and can read data fine. For this the custom url link works well. However, not being as adept at web page design and Dreamweaver, I haven't been able to find a good way for users to append data to the database. I was hoping there may some sort of plug in I could use, but have not found such a solution.

Howdy! OK, that makes it much easier. Here's a tutorial I wrote on writing your device's location to a database, and then reading those locations back and creating a map. It should give you a decent guide on how the overall process would work, and maybe a basis for your script. http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=6A0E0F30B5413FF704B3A04 Let us know if you have any questions! Mark, thanks so much. That is a great place for me to get started.
