BTv 2.0 Learning Resources

Hi, I'm moving from BT 1.4 to BTv2.0. My server is set up and I am now exploring BTv2.0. I've had a good look around already, but I would be grateful for any BTv2.0 learning resources, please. Videos, How to's, Tutorials, anything at all would be appreciated in order to help my learning. Many thanks. John

A good place to start is Source Code BTv2.0 It's a look at the project source code. It'll help you get a big picture of the files and where the resources you add will go. Go to the documentation section of my guide. www.MySkylla.com Fred

As always, many thanks, Fred. I've re-read the documentation that you have kindly supplied and I have picked up a few things, which is great. For clarity, here is where I am at: I've previously been creating BTv1.4 apps. I've now got my BT Server set up and running and I am attempting to understand how to create apps using BTv2.0. I'm concentrating on android apps for now. I've been through the android apps part of the BT University where I learned loads. (Thank you, Buzztouch Gang). I've updated my AVD to Google API8. Now, I'm stuck. I've been trying to create a simple app so I've looked at and played with the screens used to create new apps on my BT Server. So far, I do not understand them very well. I've downloaded the source code for an app and looked at it in Eclipse. I do not understand what I am looking at in Eclipse and I cannot relate it to the screens on the BT Server as yet. My app runs when I compile it but I get errors and messages and a simple "Hello World" on one screen. I'll keep studying it all but any further advice about how I can get to grips with the process would be most appreciated. Kind regards, John PS - I have two secret weapons - perseverance and the fabulous BT forum.

Use The Buzztouch Process to create a simple app that just works in Android or iOS. The Buzztouch BTv2.0 Control Panel works just life the BTv1.4 & BTv1.5 Control Panel. You select the screen you wish to use and enter the data in the Control Panel. You don't need to understand most of what you see in Eclipse. What you do need to understand is: A. The manifest file. (Several easy modifications before you publish. Each one is listed in The Buzztouch Process.) B. The drawable folder (located in the resource folder) (This holds the images files) C. The assets folder. (This holds the HTML, PDF, WORD, EXCEL, PPT, CSS, Javascript, php files.)(big NOTE: HTML images goes on this file also.) Everything else is for advance users. OK not really. To add Google Maps, AdMob, Scringo and other features you'll need to learn about the other files. It's not that big deal. Eventually you'll want to do additional modifications but that is for advance users. I suggest you start one feature at a time and in five days you'll be an advance user. Hey, you're an advance user now. Go to the documentation section of MySkylla look up the screen or feature you wish to modify and for the instructions. When you figure out a new twist send it to me and I'll add it to MySkylla. When you compile the app you will get errors and warnings. Warnings you can ignore (Some day someone will figure out what their about, until then don't with be happy.) Errors you must fix. There's solutions for most (common) errors in The Buzztouch Process. Find The Buzztouch Process at www.MySkylla.com Fred

Hi Fred, Thank you for your support and encouragement. I do as you say and let you know how I get on. It'll take me a few days as I don't get long to work. Many thanks, John.

Hi Fred and everyone, I have managed to create my first "Hello World" app at last! What a relief! There's a long way to go but at least I'm travelling now! Many thanks, Fred. I nearly gave up. I'd definitely buy you a beer if you were in the UK. Many thanks, John.
