First iOS App Approved

Here is the live link to my FIRST mobile app. Thank you BZ team for all the support. Please comment on any bugs or dislikes. I am 4 days in waiting for Apple to approve my 2.0 update. I changed a few things (fixed a missing link and added push), but for the most part, it is the same app. The reason for the size is because of the content that is included in the app. I included both iPhone and iPad Retina wallpaper and 120+ PDF's. This app (version 2.0) could stand alone in an iPad stand next to a brand new Ford (whatever) vehicle and describe it all in 2048 X 1536 resolution and in such detail that no spec is missed (down to the compression ratio in 3rd gear on a 4 cyl Ford Focus 5 speed). This is HUGE for the salesmen that already have an iPhone and now can answer any question that is asked, regardless of how off-the-wall, intricate it is! I understand the limitations of having a 116 MB app and may offer a lite version... Thank you again for all the help and I look forward to the constructive criticism....(maybe not) http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tr-ford/id534417534?ls=1&mt=8

Very nice. Congrats. It will be interesting to see if you get complaints because of the size. I'm struggling with the same thing using a universal app with Retina support for iPad. Adds quite a bit of size. I've been compressing my jpgs a bit more than normal to shave some space.

Nice work. Screen shots look great. Hope they paid you off with one of those Mustang Bosses. No space to download it on my device but I know you've worked hard on this thing. Congrats on getting it approved. How does the inventory work? I was just talking app with my buddy who owns a Honda dealership recently. They aren't thinking sales, but did want an inventory type of preview. Playing with some Core Data and SQLLite tutorials to see what I might be able to put together. Trying to barter for some lifetime Oil Changes or discount on service before I start up a project!

Thank you guys... @ATrain53 I am afraid to say that right now it is just the mobile version of our web site. If you click the iPad Screenshots you can see how the inventory is displayed. If you could point me in the right direction with all that SQLLite and Core Data that would be appreciated as I wanted to do this for my 3rd update. Also....better barter for more then Oil Changes, dealers are paying $7,000 per app with monthly fees :p

Looks great. Congrats. One of my clients app was about 95mb and they also required monthly download updates. And they were not spectacular. I convinced them to release a small lite version (meant more for iPhone) and got that one down to under 10mb. That one still to this day is being downloaded 10x more than the large version. Just a though if your client is concerned about downloads. :)

@coderx Thank you. I like the idea! I think the solution is to URL all the PDF's.

7k an APP? If you don't mind me asking.... How do you come up with that number? Is that what you charged for this project? What kind of specs/features are people demanding for that kind of price? SQL/Core Data in iOS. Small, Core Data/MySql projects for local stored databases on iOS are all over. but connecting to an external database - That's the grail we all seek. I'm still in the research phase to find out what people say works best. This is a snippet from a post that i've used to guide my research so far: "iOS has a object wrapper called Core Data that can have various backing data stores. Normally it is set up to use SQLLite." I know iOS can't work with MySQL or SQL server directly. So this is where i'm researching. This project looked promising: http://www.simple-talk.com/blogs/2011/01/14/accessing-sql-server-data-from-ios-apps/ but the links for the project seem to go nowhere now. I wonder if a smart company noticed what that might be capable of and have him working privately on that now! Seems like a website that that is well formatted for the iOS screen is the direction most companies go right now..... I think iOS security/lack of understanding thereof is a big reason for that....
