Google maps API key

Hi, I am sure this has been asked before but I am trying to get a map working and believe I need an API key but to get it I need the MD5 fingerprint. How do I get that? Regards, Pete.

Hi Pete, This guide, which covers Android dev step-by-step in an illustrated manner, has a chapter all about Google Maps and the API key: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf And of course feel free to contact me directly with any questions you might have! There's also this slightly complicated description from Google: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/mapkey Mark

Hi, Yes I tried working through the Google description and you're right it is complicated. I'll take a look at the guide you suggest. Thanks, Pete.

Hi, Okay, I think I understand that but I am probably being a bit thick as I am not sure what is meant by the command line? Pete.

Just means the command window (DOS window) in Windows. Go to Start...Run and type cmd. A command window will pop up! Mark

Hi, A couple of quick questions - I have got both a debug Google API and a release API key and now have the map working on my virtual device but not on my smart phone. I put both API's into the strings.xml file, in the appropriate places. So, how do I get the map to work on my phone. Also I changed the Zoom setting for the map from the screens page but it is not displaying correctly in the virtual device and don't know what it is doing on my phone as I can't see the map anyway. Can you point me in the right direction, excuse the pun! Regards, Pete.

Hi, I've got the zoom working in the virtual device, still not getting a map showing on my phone so I setup a native app screen and used the Google maps url. But if there is a way of getting the map to appear on my phone using the map location plugin it would be nice to know. Cheers, Pete.

I thought that changing the zoom was not supported on multiple location maps...just on single location maps? Mark
