Community Resource Ideas

Hey guys, Firstly, my apologies for not being on the forums for a while, been really busy and logged on to find a tonne of PMs... Anyway, now that I've got time on my hands, and to celebrate my first year with BuzzTouch, I'm trying to think of some ideas to give back to the BT team and community. Seeing Strobe is already doing a podcast (NB: Love it, the interview with David was inspirational), do any of you have any ideas of things YOU'D like to see? Maybe a centralised database of tutorials, or a full plugin store/download centre? BuzzTouch has given me so much, helped me develop more than 12 apps and earn money, so I'd love to find something that I can help with that would the BT community. Appreciate your ideas. Thanks again guys!

Any tutorial, no matter how arcane is helpful. Some user will be grateful. Fred

I was just thinking yesterday that BT could use a developing FAQ. A couple of common and easy questions that are asked are how to delete screens and apps. There are probably a ton of other frequently asked development questions that have simple answers.

Ah, time to pay the piper. I'll try and get it started during down time at work. I've got two questions already.

Great ideas guys- I'm not looking to re-invent the wheel, but I do think Fred's blog is already a great resource for FAQs etc. That being said, I'm happy to help with the FAQ site if you guys do want to go ahead with it, I can help with a domain name, hosting, site etc. Ideally, I'm looking for something new that BT doesn't have already. And sorry to disappoint you Dave, but I tried to make a plugin and failed... dismally... //J

@javoooo, Buzztouch has their FAQ. I have MySkylla. I suggest you pick a niche that someone else is not covering. (Not suggesting you not compete or duplicate, just that so much is to be done.) I would make a suggestion but it's always fool hearty to tell someone else what to do. Perhaps a tutorial about. . . Setting up a server How to create a plugin. So many more to pick from. One I thought you had almost figured out was headers in BTv2.0 Android. Fred

Yeah mate, that's what I was saying above- no point in duplicating a topic that you're already doing excellently :D. Tutorials would definitely be a way to go, I'll do them properly this time in PDF format with screenshots etc. I'll write up one this arvo about setting up a server and yeah, I'll see how we go from there. Thanks for the suggestions.

@Javooooo Again, feel free to email me and we can attempt a nice clean FAQ sheet, would def be beneficial to the group. If you go down another route no problem.

I'd love to help - I'm thinking of spending time and writing up "newbie-friendly" tutorials for more or less everythign to do with BuzzTouch, and setting up a site to contain them all. For example, the Self Hosted tutorial is already available here assumes a fair amount of knowledge, so I'm writing up a basic tutorial, working through each step with lots of screenshots as we speak. I'll send you a PM now so we can start working on that FAQ sheet :)

@Javoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Gotcha. Modifications for the server would be fun to do too, like the buzzbackup mod - do you have any web coding experience? If so, mods are definitively within your reach! Just throwing out ideas for you - keep us posted with whatever you do! Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com
