Buzztouch & HTML5 Apps, Is it possible?

Greetings everyone, This is my first post (Hopefully I don't get flamed for being such a noob LOL!) I was wondering if HTML5 web based apps can be created using Buzztouch, like on AppMobi? This looks like an amazing community here by the way. I hope to both grow and share here. Cheers guys!

Hi @Dragonfly! Welcome to buzztouch! The one thing you find out is that newbies don't get flamed in these forums. We're all in this together...helping each other learn. The answer to your question is, it depends. Depends on what HTML5 features you want to implement. buzztouch supports a webView, which is smaller version of Safari, so in theory, HTML5 should work. I've been messing around with some HTML5 features using a Custom URL screen, which pulls in an HTML file from the net, but it's not working as I had hoped. I think somebody here had success using the HTML5 Canvas stuff. So, it depends, and you just need to experiment. Let us know what you find out works and what doesn't. Make sure you spend some time looking at the documents in the buzztouch.com/resources section. Lot of stuff to get you started there. Mark

HTML5 - love the discussion. In most cases, folks that refer to "HTML5 Apps" are referring to apps that are launched, accessed, and "short-cutted to" using the devices native browser. Example: iOS, launch the "web app" or HTML5 app in Safari, then "Save to Homescreen" to add the icon to the iOS Springboard. It now looks like other native apps with it's own icon on the device. But, when the icon is tapped, Safari opens. Safari is the native app in this case, the HTML5 app or "web app" is a URL to the web-based files on a webserver. buzztouch focusses on helping folks create native iOS and Android projects and not HTML5 projects. This doesn't mean you can't include HTML5 in these projects, it just means that it's not designed to produce an HTML5 "web app" like you describe and like some other services offer. We've considered adding this functionality but haven't got there yet. It would be nice to have three options in your control panel Download iOS Project Download Android Project Download Web App Project This offering would require that all the plugins understand this and include the necessary parts to work in HTML5. This is a different concept but worth mentioning I think. You'll need to decide what's best for you and we encourage you to explore as much as you need before making a commitment to a solution, platform, etc. I like the idea of creating a native app and piping your HTML content to the app. But, I also understand that there are other reasons why this may not be appropriate. Welcome aboard.
