The custom html/text screen wont allow cashing. Every time I change it to allow cashing in my controll pannel it changes back to not allow. Does anyone know how to change this

By default, the Custom HTML/Text screen caches each and every time you load the page. The setting in the control panel won't have any effect on this screen type, so don't worry about setting it. Mark

I had the same problem in the past. I found reading the plugin details and the readme.txt guided me as to how these plugins should behave. There is the html doc plugin that should achieve what you want.

Basic rule of thumb is that if it retrieves the document or screen information from a URL, then that document gets cached. So, that affects Custom HTML/Text, Custom URL, and screens that give a URL option for the document. Mark

Hi Mark - my experience on BT 2.0 is slightly different, insofar as I found that the custom URL screen (the one rob151 tried) will not cache, (ever!). To cache content, the html doc screen is the one I use instead of Custom URL screen - in fact I think perhaps the caching option is the reason that BT has both in the control panel, as I don't see much difference between them otherwise.

Interesting. The code specifies that it should, and I think that if you look at the Console or LogCat while the page is loading, you'll probably see that it does. At least that's been my experience! If it's not caching for sure on your device, then it might be worth investigating further. Mark

I admit I cannot look at the code and tell, but I can give you an extract from the readme for the custom URL. This eventually convinced me why I couldn't get it to cache :- "This displays web content provided by a URL. Webpages load in a built in browser and refresh each time intentionally. Content is not available if the device is offline" I had pulled out some of what little hair I have left before finding that nugget.

I agree that' what the functionality of the screen is supposed to be, but I thought that David @ Buzztouch told me it was cached anyway. I'll check in with him to find out for sure. Mark
