Guide to BTv1.5 (iOS) Screens & Actions

Guide to BTv1.5 (iOS) Screens & Actions * * * Guide to BTv1.5 (iOS) Screens & Actions * * * BTv1.5 (iOS) has 41 Screens & Actions A "screen" is not an action, and An "action" is not a screen. In most discussions & posts "screen" usually means both screen & action, just be aware sometimes it makes a difference which type you're using. Actions cannot be used as home screens (or in tabbed layout). Login screen cannot be used as a home screen (or in tabbed layout). - - - Menu Screens - - - Menu (List) (Add icon images to BT_Images folder) Menu (Buttons) (Add button images to BT_Images folder) Menu Search - - - Content Screens - - - Multiple Choice Quiz Custom URL, Webpage (the webpage will cache into localStorage) Custom HTML, Text (saves html online on Buzztouch's server) YouTube Video HTML Document Embedded (add your BTv1.5 iOS HTML doc files to the BT_assets folder) Via URL Doc Screens (4) PDF Doc .pdf Word Doc .doc Excel Doc .xls PowerPoint Doc .ppt Location Map RSS Feed Image Gallery Image Uploader Image Emailer Streaming Audio Streaming Video Load Custom Plug-in - - - Settings Screens - - - Show Device Info Allow/ Prevent GPS (Remember to allow GPS in "Core" settings in the Control Panel) Login Screen (possibly the most under utilized & understood screen) - - - Splash Screens - - - Image Splash Screen (Consider using the default.png as a splash screen) - - - Other Actions - - - Launch a Native App Share via Facebook Share via Twitter Share via Email Share via Text/ SMS Email Us Call Us Text Us (SMS) For additional info on these screens & actions I suggest the following: a. Buzztouch v1.5 documentation (in the How-To Section) b. Buzztouch Screens, a detailed examination (in the documentation section of my guide www.MySkylla.com) Plus you'll find links to additional information. By learning HTML you can extend the functionality of Buzztouch. So, "it can't be done" usually means "I haven't figured out how to", so think outside the box and you'll find it's probably doable. Every screen has it's quirks so get to know them. Not every screen works "just as in Android", so when working with iOS be iOS. BTv1.5 (iOS) while a powerful and useful tool has it's limitations. A in depth understanding of BTv1.5 will help you understand it was reborn as BTv2.0. That being said, many users continue to use, and will continue to use it with its limitations successfully. The move from BTv1.5 (iOS) to BTv2.0 is not as compelling as BTv1.5 (Android) to BTv2.0. As noted above BTv1.5 (iOS) has 41 screens & actions, whereas BTv2.0 has 32+ screens and actions. This count is some what misleading since some BTv1.5 (iOS) screens duplicate the function of other screens, resulting in a meaningless comparison. A more meaningful measure would be to see what features are not currently available in BTv2.0 (iOS), see if the feature can be obtained via a workaround, then see what additional features BTv2.0 brings. I think you'll be surprised how little if any thing is missing in BTv2.0 and how much more BTv2.0 provides and will provide. The number of available screens is only past of the picture. BTv2.0 brings plugins (especially 3rd party plugins), self-hosting and a platform that's capable of growing organically. No longer will you be faced with the problem of staying with BTv1.5 or up grading to the next version, perhaps BTv1.6 then BTv1.7 and so forth. By self-hosting you will truly own your data that you'll invested a lot of resources into. So, as enticing as it will be to remain with BTv1.5 (iOS), I'll strongly recommend you to move to BTv2.0. Note: The following screens (plugins) are not yet available in BTv2.0 (iOS ) a. Image uploader b. Image Emailer c. Load Custom Plug-in d. Share via Facebook e. Share via Twitter Using HTML you can accomplish same. BTv1.5 cannot be self-hosted. You can take the online Config file to Dropbox, but that's an entirely different subject. Currently there's no method to convert your BTv1.5 app to BTv2.0 via the Control Panel. However, by learning how to edit the Config file and taking the Config file to Dropbox it's possible to "convert" your BTv1.5 app into a BTv2.0 app. (It's not actually converted, you rebuilt it, but it's not cut & paste either. OK, it's "converted".) By learning how to take the Config file off the Control Panel you can copy BTv1.5 apps. If you wish to use the same Buzztouch app for iOS & Android consider taking the Online Config file for one or both to Dropbox. To ensure your app's Config file is up to date when you publish the app consider using Dropbox for the Online Config file. To facilitate continuing development of the app use Dropbox for the Online Config file. Seems, we have a theme going here. "Use Dropbox For Your Online Config File". * * When I refer to Dropbox, I actually mean any non-Buzztouch web hosting solution, such as your website or server, pasteHTML.com, another online storage provide, your device.
