Still getting no sound in videos emails from purchasers.

Even after putting in @ianjamespiano's audio fix for BT v1.5 iOS, I'm still getting emails from people saying there is no audio in my videos. The videos are "Video Streaming" screens in iOS v1.5, and they are "local" files, not URLs. And for the majority of people, they work fine, but I still get some emails from people. I can't replicate the problem myself, which makes troubleshooting that much harder. Anyone else have any ideas or experience with this? Thanks!

Super mystery! LOL. Is there anything common about the folks that don't get audio. Like maybe they are all deaf! Kidding of course. iOS is usually very reliable in this regard (media playback). I wonder if it's something silly like a muted volume? Paused volume? Sounds unlikely but who knows. There's a strange fix / comment near the end of this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9633964/videos-have-no-sound-on-ios-5-0-1 Wonder if that's it. A quick Google search suggests that lots of devs / folks are having the issue on some devices intermittently, especially with iOS 5.1. Lastly: A year or so ago there were some issues with the iOS sound volume setting and how it worked with software and hardware. In other words, it was screwy depending how the user adjust it and iOS got confused sometimes and just stopped playing audio totally. Using Settings > Sound > Volume is not necessarily the same as using the volume rocker keys on the side of the device. And, to make matters worse, this funky behavior was different depending on which Audio / Media / Video classes the developer used in an app. The fix was funny. It involved visiting Settings > Sound > Volume and sliding it all the way down, then up again. Fixed. Not sure what these folks are running into but i'll bet it's one of three things. a) A video with a funky codec (unlikely) b) Another app crashed their audio and your app cannot use it. Settings > Sound > Volume (up then down, then up again fix as mentioned above) c) A device that needs restarted ;-)

Thanks David. I've compiled a troubleshooting sheet for my client to email to anyone that contacts her about audio problems. Sometimes the mute switch fixes it, sometimes she doesn't hear back (which tells me it was something boneheaded). But sometimes, they get to the end of the list and still doesn't work. I'll add some of these fixes to the list. -Thanks!
