Hey guys, so I think I understand, though I haven't tried it yet, how to localize your app. I understand that with this method you can change you apps buttons and menu titles to change depending on you location, or phone settings. What I need is something else. I hava an app about portuguese castles, its all in portuguese. I want to know if its possible to have the same app, but if your in the US, for example, instead of loading all the url files that are in portuguese, the app would load the english files? To be sure I'm explaining myself. If your in Portugal the app loads the docportugues.html, if your in the US it loads the docenglish.html. Is this possible or do I have to make two apps? Thanks.

I can vouch for the article that @MacApple posted. I recently did an app and used the exact tutorial, works like a charm.

I think on this occasion the destination is more valuable that any perceived treats. He asked how to do something, I got him directly - as confirmed by @coderx - to the pertinent article. Perhaps you over estimate the power of giving out fish. I prefer to power of teaching to fish. Each method has it's due. It's a crazy concept of selling pixels for a home page. Sorta of like buying a brick with your name inscribed for the local hospital. (I think I've bought enough for one wall.) Recently read about some one bringing the concept to a mobile device. Some one pointed out that a iPad with a retina display has more pixels. Funny discussion. Fred

"Brandon" I actually talked to apple about this subject the other day and they told me that if I don't know how to localize then to just make a copy app in the language you want it in and in the notes state that " this app is a copy of the original that is already for sell in the app market just in a different language" in the review notes box and they will go ahead and approve it hope this helped a little

One question I have is if app shows content based on location how would that help and English speaker in Portugual. Does the app allow you to choose location or can you choose language. The how to I read talked about using location, nice if everyone at that location speaks the language, but I ran into a portuguese speaker in Cambodia. I spoke spanish, she spoke portuguese. Fred

I'm almost sure that localization doesn't change language based on you location, like wifi signal or gsm, it uses you phone definitions. I'm in Portugal, I'm portuguese, but hate the portuguese translation of mobile phones settings and menus, its just stupid translation. So I always use my iPhone with language set to english, so my phone is all in english, and apps that use localization, like app store, show me everything in english. So I'd guess that if you have your device set for that language, you can probably understand the language. Cheers

yes localization gives your app lots of coverage.. start with the small things. add a language into itunesconnect.. you'll see your international numbers rise. if you add localizations in your app itself it will add even more.
