Running App off-line (no internet, no cell service)

I have never built any apps, of any kind. So please excuse my ignorance. What I would like to do is develop a very simple app, that once downloaded (or installed) to the phone it can operate without connection to the internet. If connectivity is available I'd like to run ads for income, but I'd like that to be secondary to function of the app itself. Is this possible going through a service such as BT?

Hi Marmed, Welcome to buzztouch! What you want to do is completely doable on buzztouch, you just need to understand the difference between online and offline apps. Here is a document that describes how it works: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Understanding_App_Refresh_and_Offline_Apps_v1.0.pdf Key for you is that all app files - media, HTML, etc - will need to be packaged with the app itself. I have an app that is completely offline, and it works perfectly! Mark

Yes, is very simple to do. Recommend you read about online vs. offline apps, the Config file and adding content to the app. I have articles about the above in my guide. www.MySkylla.com Fred

Okay, I finally finished with the buzztouch U courses. Very informative, learned more than I probably ever wanted to know... lol. Now, I'm back to my original question. I asked how to run the app locally with no internet access. I went through the offline_apps PDF above and found how I can host my html on a server other than buzztouch. Or, I should run it locally. My question: Where to I save it locally? In the assets folder? Do I copy it there manually? How do I point to it from within the BT_config.txt file? Preceded with a slash "/"? Thanks for your help. So far I have been able to create a simple javascript calculator and compile and run within the AVT. It complied fine, but for some reason the button presses are ignored (not executing the javascript formula)... I'm sure I'll figure out why, and fix shortly. For now I just need a direction on where to save my .HTML files locally (and maybe were I can save a disconnected .JS file too).

Html docs go in the BT_docs folder. Use the HTML Doc screen. Just put the name of the file in the box. Fred

Sheesh. Thanks. That is too simple, I had cut and pasted the javascript and html into the html5 plugin, it didn't work. I'll give this a try tonight. I'll try to figure some of this more basic stuff out on my own. I need to run through all the plugins and understand them a little better. Thanks again.
