Editing Your Name?

Hi, I am not trying to be super complicated as this is my first app, so I am making an app that allows you to create shopping lists. My issue is that my apps Home Screen is a Home Screen Menu. I was wondering if it was possible for users to actually add new menu items and to customize their name. The reason for this is that I would like the home screen to be the different lists the user has. I would then like the user to be able to add and customize the name for that list. I really appreciate all the help. Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I kind of see what you mean but if you could kind of explain to me how I would go about allowing users to edit their name in the menu items, I would be super appreciative. Fred, thanks so much!

Okay. I sifted through the material in your guide but I am not sure how to implement localStorage for my purpose. The main thing I am focusing on right now is how to let people edit the text in the menu items and add more of their own. Thanks.

Name is easy. Add menu items A bit harder. Assuming you have html with five items. Use write.document to add item. Haven't done this, but if you add a drop down list, choice is save via localStorage.

Hi Fred, Thanks a lot for your help. I am still stuck. I understand I have to use localStorage (your guide - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42553454/MySkylla's%20Guide/Articles/localStorage.html), but I am a newbie. I have absolutely no idea how I would go about using localStorage to let users edit their names in the menu items. I would be really appreciative if you could explain how I would use localStorage to let users edit the names of the menu items (after this is figured out, I will post another forum topic about the adding more menu items so do not worry about that right now). Thanks Fred. You are my ONLY hope. Thanks again. Munny1

using localStorage to let users edit their names in the menu items. "their" name: have user enter name in a editable text field. (See jQuery Mobile for how-to) I would be really appreciative if you could explain how I would use localStorage to let users edit the names of the menu items Use same method as above. Fred

Okay. Let me see if I have it straight: To let users edit their names in the menu items, I have to let users enter name in an editable text field. I am assuming that your jQuery Mobile guide would tell me how to link up the text field to the menu items? Also, how would put in an edit button in the navigation bar that would let users edit the names?

Wait a minute. By jQuery Mobile, you mean this, right?: http://jquerymobile.com/demos/1.1.0/docs/forms/textinputs/

Yes, just spent some time reading this. That for the input but I don't see the storage. Thought there was an editable option. Fred

So that is a no go. Fred, you can probably understand what I want to do: I was thinking that I have an app where you can create shopping lists for whatever or wherever you want. So the first screen would be all of your lists. This is what we are stuck on right now. I do not know how to let users edit the menu items to rename them as their shopping lists, as well as add more lists. Does that clarify a bit, Fred?
