Versions?

I see a lot of people using v1.5. Does it have more functionality than 2.0? I am confused about that. Thanks.

You will get many answers here on this question....some from the TOP BT Community members and they will give you a very detailed reason as to why go 1.5 or 2.0.... As for me...I just pushed my first app to the Apple App Store about 2 weeks ago. My first app was a 1.5 and that is the app that is about to go live. My second and third apps are on 2.0...if you are new to programing then I would suggest going with 1.5 first and then after you get acclimated go with 2.0. There is the same functionality between the two but 1.5 is MUCH easier to get started off with. Your App won't lack anything due to the fact that you built in 1.5. As I said...you will get lots of answers but from someone that is new to this and has built a few apps my opinion is get comfortable with 1.5 then self host with @Mr.David and use 2.0.

Agree that BTv1.5 may seem easier, but after just a bit you'll appreciate BTv2.0. Howell if your Android don't use BTv1.5 Go to Buzztouch Screens in my guide and you'll see why. www.myskylla.com Find Buzztouch Screens article in the documentation section. Fred

One other thing, how do I change the version of an app, specifically 2.0 to 1.5?

You cannot change the version of an app without starting it from scratch Mark

Thanks, but I am iOS so I think I am good with 1.5, right? Sorta, but not really. Btv1.5 is limited and will not grow. BT v2.0 will grow. Why invest time intro BTv1.5 I say take a hint from Buzztouch, they went with BTv2.0, shouldn't you? Fred

True. Now I have two apps intended to be the same, one is 2.0 and one is 1.5. I think for now, to test it out and kind of fiddle around, I will work with the 2.0 one and the 1.5 but will kind of lean to 1.5 for now.

Complete an app....A to Z with 1.5 then, go to 2.0. A very simple and logical transition.

Yes, BT2 will grow, but perhaps not at the pace you need. If the features you need are in v1.5, and you don't know how long until they'll show up in v2, is there really any question what you need to do? You cannot go from v2 to v1.5 without starting over. Just the way it is! Mark

Sounds good! By the way, can you guys take a look at my other forum question and see if you can help me out? http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?fid=6FC693D3D2753EE72B0ED38&tid=6FC693D3D2753EE72B0ED38

Say, would you agree that it doesn't make sense to switch to 2.0 until you are self-hosting? I think @Isills81 has good advice to make a 1.5 app first, especially in iOS. There is a lot of functionality that is not working in Android, so that would change the equation. I started two apps in 2.0 and reverted to my old friend, 1.5. Next one will be in 2.0.

Two considerations: With the really cool and useful plugins coming out, will you be able to add them to BTv1.5? No. (You could become a very good Objective-C programmer and adapt them for BTv1.5, but that seems like a lot of work. ) Will you be able to add them to BTv2.0 app that are on Buzztouch.com? Yes. (Easy as our. ) If you only have 3 apps (or 10) do you want one of them to be BTv1.5? Your call. So, though the ease of starting with BTv1.5 might be attractive, it certainly won't be easier. Fred
