New Plugin: Blackberry / Windows App Transformer!

################################################## THIS THREAD AND PLUGIN WAS PART OF APRIL FOOLS! It was very fun while it lasted :-) Thanks everyone! ################################################## Hi guys! I've been working on this plugin for over 16 months now, and I'm so so so so stoked to be able to announce it today! I've been working very close with some big names here in the community to get this thing cleaned up, and I'm even more stoked to announce that this plugin is FREE! https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/plugin.php?pid=D397660192E5940168B9372 The Blackberry / Windows App Transformer is a plugin that transforms your iOS project into a compatible Blackberry / Windows project! Here's how it works: 1. Install the plugin from the plugin market. 2. Create a screen with the plugin in your app. Name it "Transform Screen" so you know. 2. Throw it in your app and run the app in xcode. 3. Go to your screen and follow instructions to begin. 4. You now have 2 project files on your desktop: one for blackberry and one for windows! You can now support all 4 platforms with your app! Android version coming soon, it's a really complicated plugin so it may take some time. **NOTE: Plugin is super lightweight and has very little files, it does all the transforming work on my server, not in xcode. Enjoy! I already have my blackberry app in the market! Woohoo! David

Do you have a 12:00 mid-day moratorium over there for announcements today?

Really glad I went out and bought a Windows phone for testing just the other day. Already have it up and loaded - pretty sweet! Even works with my Ultimate Screen Creator plugin. Not sure how you did it David, but awesome. :)

Thanks Chris! I made sure that the plugin would be compatible with all other plugins, or most of them at least - some people might notice some differences but only because BlackBerry and Windows required some tweaking for the UI. It's a combination of server database backend scripting and use of several API's, APK's and APR's. The end result is a beautiful Blackberry and Windows version of your app. Kittsy, if you have any questions, let me know, I can help you through it if needed. ;-) David

Hah good stuff, I wish I were that clever! Not surprised it took you 16 months to release this, thousands of lines of code.

This is amazing...I didn't even think of getting into the Windows market until now. I also don't want to sound greedy but what's your projection on the Android Plugin? Ugh...this is a joke though.

He's in on it!! The description also says the plugin comes with 12 files but only lists 3, not falling for it :P

Hi @piggilypoo! As you can see there's no joke, lots of comments here saying it works great. The lack of files is because everything is done on a backend server using magic HTML scripts and Internet Explorer Technology. Try it out for yourself and see :-) David.

Buzztouch would have to be in on the April fool's as well, since plugins need to be approved... Also, Blackberry Transformer - who could make that up ;)

@AppOne: Just to clarify "Buzztouch would have to be in on the April fool's as well, since plugins need to be approved" isn't accurate anymore. We stopped reviewing plugin quite awhile ago and instead embrace the "open market" approach. @MrDavid: FYI, the source-android-2.0 and source-android-3.0 directories in this plugin contain class files with invalid names. BTM_drums.java and btm_drums.xml must be left over files from a previous plugin you created? Please remove these from the source-android directories to avoid naming conflicts when packaging apps. Addtionally, BTM_transformer.xib contains a reference to "BTM_drums" in the placeholder element (view as text, it's XML). Look for the "customClass" entry, you'll see BT_drums, ths isn't correct. Lastly: If this isn't an April Fools joke, well done, sounds impressive. I haven't played with it myself (way to many other priorities). Cheers.

@D: Those are remnants of a plugin it was based on, no worries, they shouldn't be conflicting. If I hadn't taken any more than 10 seconds to create this plugin, I would have caught those gotcha's. :-) Edit: Now I feel bad that you went through the trouble to find those things, LOL!

Does that mean that the 14 apps that I've published with this plugin aren't going to work anymore? How sad :-( I had dreams of a bright future. I coulda been somebody. I coulda been a contender. But now it's over. Thank you mrDavid for the time that we had with this plugin. Someday, maybe someday I'll see the sunrise once again. But until you bring this plugin back, I'm crawling back into the hole from which I came from. I'm ruined. I mortgaged the house, the car, the dog and the kid just to get my empire off of the ground selling apps based on this plugin. How am I going to get my things back? I need my dog!!! Apple and Android just called and canceled my interviews with them. They were for sure in a bidding war over me. They wouldn't even answer my questions. They made me hang up the phone so they could call back and leave a message. Ok, it's over. The boat is going back, the 4 vacation homes that I bought using mortgage funds borrowed based on future sales of apps that use this plugin are now forclosed on and I have nothing left but the 14 year old MacBook that I started with. It's ok mrDavid. It's not your fault that the evil empire has ruined this for us. We will prevail in the long run! Bye for now ( the first one who guesses where this phrase came from is awesome) Dave P.S. That was fun!

For those that don't read this forum thread or won't understand, I think the plugin should be removed from the market now. It isn't April 1st any more.

I'm a little late to this party.... But what exactly was the April Fools joke? The plugin actually working, or the fact that someone would actually want an app that runs on Blackberry? (I had to use the internet wayback machine to even lookup what a "Blackberry" was, lol) All in fun, David! We can always count on you for a laugh or two.

@Dave, LOL, we need to catchup again soon! @Leon, don't be so hard on yourself, I think *your* funny :-) @Alan, yup, this thing is going down today, as planned. @Stobe, never too late! The joke was the entire plugin concept, which is pretty much impossible to do - however, some good folks here ran along with the joke and we got tons of installs, when following the plugin instructions, the app would show the image of a calendar marking the 1st of April, instead of the "install" screen where you would conceivably transform your app :-) FYI: Loved your latest BuzzCast, stoked it's back up and running! Thanks everyone for running with the Gag, see you next April... :-) David.

Just a point of clarification- the concept is not impossible- just challenging. Might mean every existing plugin would have to be rewritten to accommodate, but the idea of a server doing the work of giving you a Windows compatible project to download is no different than what Buzztouch does for iOS and Android already. 16 months of work sounds about right... ;)
