No Main.xlm in package download

No main.xml file In Package Explorer res-layout( No main.xml) No MudloggingActivity.Java file Example (MontereyharborActivity.Java)the only thing I have with app name in my java source code is...mudlogging_appDelegate.java. Shouldn't it just be MuddloggingActivity.Java ? I don't have one . I'm doing a step by step with the Android activitys and layouts video But I don't have these files I've tried locating where things were luanching my activity's and set content view to that location and ....CRASH AND BURN...I've tried multiple methodes with no success. Can anyone tell me why I dont have these files it would make things so much easier . Or how can I get these files into my project ? I've been at this for quite some time and I'm still basically at square one . I'm not quitter and "I WILL GET THIS" But any and all help is greatly appreciated. If frustration is part of the growing proccess I've grown a lot in the last six days ...Lol

So, the cool thing about buzztouch is that you don't have to worry about any of that code stuff. Those videos are literally designed to show you how things work in general. But buzztouch has taken care of all that dirty work for you! To add content to your app, all you need to do is add screens via your control panel. Start with something simple like a Menu List, and then add a menu item to it. Then create another screen...like an Excel screen, and add that to the menu list. The next time you update your app in the emulator, all the new stuff will be there! You literally DO NOT have to worry about ANY java or XML files unless you are trying to add functionality that buzztouch doesn't already provide. They have given you everything you could ever need already. Let's get together tomorrow and do a TeamViewer session...it'll only take a few minutes to show you what I mean. Mark

Yeh, but it would be better if we could ALSO do it through eclipse rather than JUST in the buzz touch website?

You can, for sure! You're able to add any code to the stuff you download from buzztouch, and you can also create a brand new app from scratch if that's what you have a hankerin' for! But for most of us, who want nothing to do with Java or Objective C code, then we're super happy that buzztouch has taken care of this for us! But, as it stands, everything you need to piece buzztouch and your code together is already there. The AndroidManifest.xml file gives you a clear roadmap on what code does what, and that should help you get started. Mark

@Fred my app will have a few semi complex excel files and my questions was basically how can I get my app to read Excel ? I read somewhere I need to create another app for excel and install that into my app . I've been to your page as well and downloaded your app . The app still requires the excel portion but still a lot of great info Check out my quiz scores I rocked them....lol they were fun Thanks Mr David I've downloaded it haven't installed it yet I was having multiple problems Mark has been kind enough to help me out . Anyone have any walk thoughs on installing it ? I'm what you would call a super super newb...lol I appreciate the replies . I've visited your page as well look forward to maybe implementing one of the themes I seen after I figure things out a bit more .

Hi Richard, buzztouch already provides a screen that you can attach Excel files to. You can either reference the file from a URL, or as a local file bundled with your app. What I meant by a different app is that, for Android, if a user pulls up the Excel screen in YOUR app, it will ask for a way to read the actual file. So, you need to have a DIFFERENT app installed on your device that will read the actual Excel file. iOS does not have this problem. If you create an Excel screen in your app in iOS, and the user taps on it, the data will automagically be there...no external app required. Does that make sense? Mark

my questions was basically how can I get my app to read Excel ? For an Android app to read an Excel file usually you'll use a third party app. I use QuickOffice (recently bought by Google) I read somewhere I need to create another app for excel and install that into my app . That's not at all necessary. Perhaps you're confusing with need to be able to read, addressed above. The Excel plugin is a standard Buzztouch plugin it should be on your control panel. Fred

A possible solution if you don't expect users to have it be willing to obtain a app that can read Excel files is to host the Excel file online and access via Custom URL. Essentially the user sees the image of the Excel file, but is not able to interact with the file. Works with other doc files (PDF, ppt, word) Another alternative is to convert the file to HTML. @mark sounds good @ Fred I really want this to be used offline I want it embedded in my app and still be able to edit it . The target ppl who would use this app ( ppl in the field ) would already have docs to go or something of that nature on their device . I know you may run into a few that would not have it but come on ppl it's 2012 who doesn't use some kind of office program on- the- go ? ..lol I'm kidding ...sort of . This app is my starter app for me to learn how everything works and to see how well I can make everything look and function.

Editing the Excel file that's included in the app is a completely different story! It probably involves some extra coding. But at the very least we can get you to the point where people can view it. Mark

One is actually a lag program I've created to figure out lag time and strokes in the oil field it's pretty essential that works just being able to view it would be useless but if additional coding is what I'll need I'll tackle that bridge when I come to it . Other excel docs I want to install are just pages that need to be viewed I can actually change the formate if need be I could probably even turn them into .png .
