Im getting the wheel of death from my custom html screens, v 2.0. Ive been trying to resolve via Fred's guide, but when I comment out line 132, the 10 rows higher - public boolean shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String url) throws up a boolean error! In any event, sounds like you have found the issue...though all it really does is stop the showProgress indicator, but doesn't solve whatever might be preventing actual progress from being made.
