Importing semi complexed xls files (OLE Exeption )

Can someone point me in the direction of some reading material ?. I looked it up online a found a bug for vista that stated some fixes with semi complexed code to enter. Not a problem i can do that i just want to make sure these are the proper steps and procedures. I'm running windows 7 64 bit also I want to have a few .xls files I created one with multiple pages can I use it ? I left the more complexed one ( it has a lot of formulas in it ) by itself and created another with about 6-7 pages . One I really need the other I can create in other formats like word and PDF . These are lag programs lithology descriptions and thing that nature . Any suggestions?
