Well making your apps should be just the same, however, I'm not sure if the maps plugin will work as Apple are changing it.

I downloaded IOS6 onto my Ipad2 and my BT apps work normally, but I have found a few other (non-BT) apps that are crashing. BTW- the maps work just fine. I really like the upgrade to maps. **Update- the maps will launch and show location, but will not open the native maps and give directions like before.

iOS 6 documentation states: "API compatibility will be maintained." "Maps are now supported in the Simulator." I'm assuming the keys needed previously won't be needed because it's now native.

@Crown Solutions I'm waiting for Beta 2. Just curious does your BT apps have google maps integrated? If so, what happens when you click on them?

codrex - I just tried the maps again. It launches and shows the location, but will not give directions when you tap on the info button like before. If you have location services turned on in the app, it launches google maps in safari and give you directions that way. It does not launch the new map directions with turn by turn voice. I will do some digging this afternoon and see what I can find with the new map API.

I think the question raise is a excellent question. I've raised this question in regards to iOS 5.1 with no response. localStorage has been turned into Session Storage by Apple. The Config file is cached into localStorage thereby creating a problem for Buzztouch iOS apps. Fred http://techblog.troywebconsulting.com/index.php/2012/05/relocating-localstorage-in-ios-5-1-for-phonegap-applications/

Is session storage a good idea instead of local storage

No session storage is not a good idea. The problem is that as of iOS 5.1 localStorage is treated as session storage. Fred

The BT_config.txt won't use cookies.

That's not my point. My point is that as currently configured Buzztouch is incompatible with iOS 5.1 and probably 6.0. This thread is not about cookies but compatibility of Buzztouch with iOS.

i understand, but you mentioned localstorage and iOS, which kind of has nothing to do with buzztouch right? Im curious because i havent experimented with iOS yet.

I understand that Buzztouch will work on iOS 5.1, but the question is what happens when the locaLStorage is cleared out. First the app users will see the app revert to the Config data packaged into the binary. If you have any client data, (perhaps in app purchase data thru ZooZ, or any other data) It can and will be deleted. Fred

@ceerup, but you mentioned localstorage and iOS, which kind of has nothing to do with buzztouch right? No, not correct. The online Config file is cached into localStorage. Which is why the app doesn't have to update every time you open the app. Fred

From Troy Web: "See bug details here: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-330 The general problem is that as of iOS update 5.1 (3/2012), Apple no longer considers data stored in localStorage or the SQL Lite DB to be persistent data. This means that any data stored using these HTML5 features is considered volatile across updates and process termination. To say the least, this is a problem for any developers replying on this data being available across app updates, backups, or crashes. It’s bad enough that we only get 5MB of storage (2.5MB if you’re storing 16bit text characters), now we can’t even persist the data when the app is run natively? That’s yucky." Fred

@fred buzztouch doesn't use HTML5. Problem avoided.

@drmikeb, Troy Web gives a solution. My understanding is that this is also a Buzztouch problem. If so, someone needs to adapt Troy Web's solution to Buzztouch. Anyone care to explain why this is not a Buzztouch problem? Fred

@Fred it's not a problem because it's native coding used and the config is locally stored and updated. End of story. There is no SQL, no HTML5, etc.

Don't know if this will help, but I also have IOS 5.1.1on both iPhone and iPad, and haven't had any issue with my buzztouch apps, or some apps from other buzztouch users that I've downloaded. Didn't even realize, until now, that there might have been a problem with IOS 5.1 and buzztouch. Or is it only for some specific kind of apps? Cheers

I appreciate and understand that the localStorage issue is a HTML issue, and Troy Web'a solution involved native coding. What I'm not sure is whether some Buzztouch code need to be modified. I still believe that if you use a HTML screen it's an issue. Fred

Not an ideal solution but if you have to have driving directions this jQuery Mobile tool just might be the trick. http://www.raymondcamden.com/mobile/index.cfm Fred
