Test new features in a live app

GoNorthWest suggests that one of the best ways to test new features in a published online app is to: "put your current configuration file somewhere on the Internet (like the public folder in DropBox), change the Data URL to point to it, do your testing, and then point the Data URL back to the “new” configuration file" Does anybody know (from experience) if it is a 100% safe way, not to disrupt and aggravate the owners of your App while you work on improving it ??? Thanks

Yes, this is safe. I suggested this solution as the normal setup for all Buzztouch apps given the problem Marks well describes in his "Planning to update your app" post. By initially publishing your app using Dropbox as the online Config file host you avoid all the problems he describes. But, please note, if you're using this solution you're likely to run into the problem he describes. My solution avoids those problems by having the Config file initially pointing to Dropbox. Best of if implement this from the start, or at least sometime before you begin the modifications. Fred
