Suggestion - add a forum topic...

It would be great if you guys would include a forum topic for "Find a developer". While I'm going to tackle going through more of the buzztouch U, I personally am not a programmer, so there would be things I'd prefer to outsource. Otherwise it's not clear "where" to post a request for a developer / help?

For sure this is in the plan - love your thinking! The idea is that users can enter their Developer Info in their buzztouch.com profile today. This has been going for awhile and the list of folks entering this data in their profile is slowly growing. When the list is of reasonable size, we'll begin to "show off" or "list" profiles that offer development services. This is kind of like a forum but slightly different. Ideally it will help developers and folks looking to hire some help to connect.

Thanks David (and David LOL). From a user perspective though, to just browse through profiles still isn't entirely enough... let me explain why I'm saying this. On woothemes for example, they have a section for that. However, I've literally gone through 80% of the list, contacted most of them, only to find: 1) they're too swamped and can't take on more work 2) they aren't interested in adding new customers 3) they can't do what their profile says (or don't do it anymore) When there is a board or topic that allows people to say, "developer needed for this", it allows those who are interested AND available AND qualified, to contact the person back. OR perhaps add a spot where people can add (at worst), "available" or "not accepting new clients at this time" in their profiles, and maybe add a feature that the person MUST keep this updated monthly or every 2-3 months in order to keep themselves listed there? I've wasted more time trying to find people who are available in the past, that it eventually was just better for me to figure it out myself. (And I did. And I finally had one guy free up his time and get back to me 3 weeks later, but I already found a workaround lol) So - from a user perspective, these may be helpful. (Also, having a "list", unless it rotates, basically puts the top people as always getting the work, and the lower down as rarely so they don't bother trying anymore... see above experience). Just suggestions :)

Great points. Comments: Profiles / Outsources: Finding qualified developers is for sure hard to do. In fact, an argument could be made that working countless hours on oDesk or other freelancer sites to find a developer to hire is not worth the effort. Lots of debates about this. However, hiring freelancer help would be nearly impossible without such a system. Consider this, does your town have a "computer programmer" for hire that's reliable, skilled, and read to take on work? Most do not so long lists of folks with all sorts of qualifications is about as good as the internet can do today. Freelancer sites are improving but do have a long way to go for sure. List, top people always getting the work: We don't necessarily see a problem with this. Not saying we plan to implement it like this but for sure there is merit in exactly such a system. Providing work and leads and revenue to developers that HELP US HELP OUR USERS is exactly the idea. Must Update Profiles: Impossible to enforce. Ultimately it will be about the client and developer creating a relationship. I guess we could work to "legitimize" the claims made in a profile but that is another idea (and business model and commitment) altogether. Who knows, someday maybe?
