Tour Apps

Hi, I'm making my first turn by turn tour app. Can someone share a turn by turn tour app link? My previous app was just the name of the place and gps/google map. This time I want to say start here, talk about the site, and at the end tell them to walk in this or that direction until they get to the next spot. I'm would like to play with an image and audio page. I will host the audio file on amazon s3. BTW, is hosting the audio outside the app a good thing. Someone just asked, what if I stop using amazon. What happens to the audio associated with my app. ummmmmm, never considered that. Thanks gang.

BTW, is hosting the audio outside the app a good thing. Depends. Is WIFI available? 3G? Someone just asked, what if I stop using amazon. What happens to the audio associated with my app. ummmmmm, never considered that. Surely you have a copy. Sounds like a job for HTML. Fred

Thanks for the reply. I think I need to add the mp3 file to the app to sell more apps to people who only have an ipod touch app. Strange, you think you have a great idea in your head and than someone come along and find your flows.

Hi @tiger, Given the sometimes spotty nature of cell phone and WiFi, and the fact that you really don't want people to wait for audio while they are doing the tour, I would suggest bundling the audio with the app. I would imagine that such audio is fairly static - doesn't change much - so you wouldn't have to worry about updating the app a lot. Anything you can do to save your users download time and bandwidth...I would take advantage of that. Mark
