lost my keystore certificate

Let's say I hypothetically accidentally deleted my release.keystore file. Now eclipse won't let me upload an app update because it is a different certificate. Is there ANYTHING I can do aside from creating a new app?

Let's say you look in the trash file. If you can't recover the certificate you would have to create a new certificate. Google Play will say that's a different app not an update. Eclipse doesn't care. The certificate doesn't get you into Eclipse, Eclipse signs your app with the certificate. New certificate = New App Fred

Hey Mutzy, Fred is right...you'll need to create a new release.keystore in order to sign your app and submit to Google Play. But, you don't need to create a new app in Buzztouch. You could just, for instance, change your current app to a higher major version, sign it with a new keystore, and publish as a new app. Then remove the old app from Google Play. That leaves the new app as the one people should install. Only issue with that is current users will have to uninstall the old and install the new in order to "upgrade." Always make sure you backup your release keys! Mark

Using the Control Panel (don't need to publish via Play) add a update now screen. Screen takes user to new app. Downside, the new app will start with zero installs. Is there content that's be purchased? It's a hassle for users. Recommend you find Release Certificate. Even if it's been deleted you should be able to recover it. Then backup! Fred
