I have packaged my app and would really appreciate some feedback before sending it out into the world. Link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/55663560/LocustGrove.apk

I just tested on a LG Optimus V App downloaded fine but required an immediate update - update your configuration file; see GoNorthwest's explanation on this - http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Understanding_App_Refresh_and_Offline_Apps_v1.0.pdf 1) why does the app require 'my location'? I didn't see a need for that 2) Aesthetically, this app is clean, clear and easy to navigate Well done.

@Geo3d - thank you for the input. I thought I did a final config update but will do it again. There is no reason for location so I will try and figure out how to disable that. @Fred - thank you for all the help along the way with this. I really appreciate it.

Isn't the location permission used for the usage map on bt? It'll be in the manifest.xml file if you want to remove it.

Hi @ylaube73 Cracking little app, I love the simplicity of it, where no complications are needed. From a user experience point of view- * The visitor information screen is a little unfriendly to read. Maybe underlines or different font colours (personally i reckon a nice buttercup yellow works really well with that shade of green) for the titles. * Explore by map takes you to an external browser to what i'm assuming is a pdf, could this not jsut be implemented as a screen? There appeared to be quite a few links to external url's that put me off a bit. The overall app seems awesome though, just the kind of feel I want mine to have! Cheers, Aaron

@raveyd - good point. I appreciate the help. @aaron - thank you for your crit. Especially since the park's demographic are of the older kind. The map was a work around as the BT custom html screen was not behaving with the youtube vids. It would crash either at the youtube page (before vid would load) or after the vid would finish and when you hit back button to go back to the screen. I had Fred look at it but it's a stumper.

Question: Re: location - do I want to remove both "fine" and "coarse" locations? I do not know the differences between the two and what they contribute.

Re: Location In a nutshell; 1) Fine = GPS location 2) coarse = WiFI Here's a thought regarding your map; if you plan on using location services for your users you could implement a Google Static Map which just loads, you guessed it -a static map; but allows for use of GPS devices: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/staticmaps/ Using static map allows the ease of just pointing to a URL; and with Buzztouch's custom url plugin its an ease to implement. Or you could create your own map with such free products as Quantum GIS for example

@Geo3d - thanks for the clarification on location and the info on maps. Gives me something to think about.

Okay - I have another question - if I have already compiled this app and made the .apk, when I go into eclipse to work on it (like remove fine location), I generate errors. So was I supposed to make a new project or something, meaning you cant work in a file that was already compiled?

It must be a hard life in Tunbridge Wells :) @ylaube73 - You can continue to work on your project in eclipse, but if you make changes, you'll need to make your apk again, so make sure you know where the apk and the certificate are on your computer (and remember your password!) because you will need to overwrite them. Wouldn't know why you're now getting errors, try a Project > Clean
