Interactive Images

Hi. I'd like to create an app which has images in it that are interactive, i.e. that the user can tap on a portion of it and that portion gets shaded. The images are pretty large and would need to be zoomed in and out and scrolled around. Does anyone know if that's possible and how I'd go about doing it (or give me some hints as to where to find the information that could send me on the right track?)

You could use an image map, there's a free image mapper here: http://www.image-maps.com/

Hi Raveyd, thanks for the link. I checked it out but it seems one sets it up to map to different URLs? I want the section of the image to just get something like a grey overlay on it,no to link out to another URL, but couldn't see how to do that. Also, Each image would have something like 1000 small clickable squares, so this level of manual entry is probably not reasonable. Any other ideas?

1000?!?! Not the best idea then! That was just an example, there may be other similar tools that will do what you want. I'm sure someone will post if they know of any.

Hi Sheri Thanks for trying to help! Those aren't quite what I'm after. What I'd like is for this to happen: 1. An image with, say, a grid on it (the grid though isn't blank, it is an image in itself) 2. That the user can touch the screen and colour in individual squares on the grid 3. That these coloured in squares are saved for the user (they need to be able to build on it) The initial image is large, so that to see the grid clearly enough it would have to be zoomed in for the user to be able to colour it in. Did I explain that a bit better?

I think I got it...but usually see it the opposite. Erase a square ....or do a puzzle and a photo appears. Perhaps you can direct us to an app similar?

I'm afraid I don't know of a similar one - so I'm not sure if it's even really feasible, but apparently there's an open niche for it!!
