Image gallery display limit?

I have an app with an uploader/image gallery that is hosted on buzztouch. This feature of the app has been a lot more popular than I expected it to be - currently over 8000 images have been uploaded and are viewable in the gallery. This creates an issue because when the image gallery is clicked, it takes at least a minute to load the 8000 images. I have been getting a lot of negative feedback as a result of this - people think that the image gallery is broken when it simply takes a while to load. Is there any way I can insert some code into my project that will only enable 500 of the 8000 images to be loaded at a time?

I did read something about this, didn't bookmark the site, just saying it's possible. Use Google.

Hi Cono, When you say it's possible using HTML and Javascript...do you have a particular solution you can share with us?! Mark

First i have to know what gallery they are using, is it the buzztouch plugin? if so is there a way to modify it where you can put extra codes in it? if there is a way, id like to take a look at the coding so i can see how the coding layout is displayed. im going to do some research on it right now, because im wondering myself why it displays it as 8000 images loading when it should load only when you go to the next screen

Well it technically does load one full image at once, but it's almost like it preloads the 8000 altogether (the number above the gallery says 8000) So even after waiting a minute for the whole gallery to load up, there is still the standard 2-3 second wait for the individual images to load as you swipe through the gallery. And yes I am using the buzztouch plugin - which is strange because the control panel says that the image gallery only saves 10 images when hosted on buzztouch.com

is this for the iphone? because instagram takes a while to load too, and many other picture programs takes about the same length when there are alot of pictures

yes it's for the iPhone...I guess that maybe its not such a huge issue. It's probably inevitable that there is gonna be some loading involved. Just the reaction from reviews and emails made me think it was just an issue with my app
