Hey Fred, I looked all over your blog...the Android Process...Guide to Buzztouch...and I cannot find instructions on how to connect Eclipse to your device so you can compile and run the app on the device instead of the AVD. Could you please post some specific instructions, or a direct link to the process, so we can all learn? Thanks! Mark

I misread the post. I thought they wanted to run the app on the device, didn't realize they wanted to have the device connected to the computer . Fred

I do want to run the app on the device itself but when I hit run while it's connected, I don't get any device selection windows. It also won't even open on the simulator.

Well, the alternative then is to email yourself the apk, and install it that way. Tons of people use that method. The code you mention goes in the top section of AndroidManifest.xml, right after it talks about the version info. Mark

More specifically on the external storage question: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.appname" android:versionCode="2" android:versionName="1.1" android:installLocation="preferExternal"> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8"/> <!-- required device permissions --> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" />

I did put it on the device. 2 issues. 1. It doesn't display all the button images. 2. I use custom URL to stream mp3. It pops up with a which app window when I hit it and none of the apps work.

1. Did you include the images in your project before you built it? Are any of them labeled with caps or strange characters? Those are not allowed in Android. LogCat should show you why the images are not showing up. 2. Another dumb thing about Android is that it needs a jillion helper apps to get anything done. Try searching the market for streaming music apps. Mark

I can't do LNA. I want the app to be one application on ios meaning no native apps on ios. On droid, I'm willing to do LNA but that would mean copying and redownloading the whole app and switching every screen and working with two apps. Bad scene.
